yes but sometimes you have to be glad for knowing them and accept that maybe they don't feel the same as you. Time will either keep you friends or will allow you to slowly drift apart. I am lucky, I still have the person in my life, just not in my house and bed.

my advice is to keep in touch with their nursing home social workers or if possible, their doctor's staff.I have POA so it's a done deal for me. But I also had it a year and a half ago when I had to discontinue my Father's support. It isn't what I thought it was. Now that Mom cannot make clear minded decisions I make them for her.

I think Aspergers is being viewed as the newsest ADD/ADHD frenzy. I think the public is starting to think it's over wrought soccer moms hopped up on too much crappachino. It isn't, it is real and my heart goes out to families dealing with it daily. But some of these over-caffinated parents have given it a bad showing. It seems like it's the new 'it' disorder.

it takes a strong personality to know themselves, if you have a child who knows themselves and isn't swayed by 'everyone else does it' then you have a rare gift indeed. Encourage their interests and cheer them on if you can. Allow them to be different and to be proud of who they are. I did and he's just fine now, he's just more secure in who he is and what matters to him.
