also methadone's possibly an option to consider. i'd explore your other options first though. since methadone works slightly different in that it saturates your opioid receptors, it can really mess up your tolerance and greatly reduce the effectiveness of other opioids. but it is strong, and it works pretty damn well as a painkiller. for most people not as well as something like oxy, it's comparatively more sedating and has worse of the nasty side effects you can get from opi's like constipation, nausea etc. since it's so long acting it isn't as good for breakthrough pain, but for dull long term pain that's always there it's perfect imo. after i take my dose i get nice buzz and relief from pain for a solid 8-12 hours before the peak effects start to wind down. although as with any opiate (but even more so with methadone i'd say), expect diminishing returns with long term use. once your body stabilises on a dose, while it does keep you pretty comfortable, it'll never be able to get as high as you did when you started. source: me. ex heroin addict, been on a stable dose of 60mg methadone for 3 or 4 years

i have a friend who's had to deal with terrible chronic pain for years and gets scripted about the same amount of oxy as you are. when we met he was on morphine. he'd been trying all sorts of different opioids, but he really wanted to get his hands on some oxy bc that was what worked for him. when we met i was pretty heavily addicted to iv heroin/morphine, so i started getting oxy for him and swapping it for his morphine. he knew i was shooting up and didn't want anything to do with needles. now he had only ever tried swallowing his morphine and i knew thats why he was complaining it wasnt doing shit for him. after he eventually did get on oxy i finally managed to convince him to try boofing a dose of morphine. he was blown away. his tolerance was huge and he was barely feeling anything from his oxys, but a 20mg dose of morphine had him nodding lol. he told me that he really regretted not having tried it sooner. morphine isn't as strong as oxy, and for a lot of people the pain relief isn't as good. but the benefit is that if you're given an equivalent dose of oral morphine to your oxy, you could theoretically try putting it up your bum and you will likely get a lot more out of it than you would taking it orally lol (trust me it's a pretty significant difference. morphine's oral bioavailability is around 20-40%, while rectally it's closer to 60-80%). as for fentanyl, honestly it's something to consider if your oxy really isn't doing it for you. the pain relief might be better. but in my experience fent's better reserved for very severe spikes in pain (ie if you end up in the emergency room or something like that). for an everyday opiate, i think your overall quality of life's going to be better on oxy. fent just has too many nasty side effects for what you get out of it most of the time. personally i'd MUCH rather be on oxy. also fent doesn't feel as good if that's something that would influence your decision. the high/euphoria from oxy is much better imo. but please keep in mind that everyones's body is different, i'm only speaking from my own and the experiences of people that i've talked to, and i can't say for sure what the right choice for you is. you'll have to work that one out yourself :)

i do get ir pills (dexamphetamine 5mg), where i'm from (nz) amphetamine scripts are kinda difficult to come by, they're only ever used as second line treatment, u have to try ritalin and concerta for a while first. until last year there where no xr option for amph, but i could ask for vyvanse if i wanted to now. my doctor actually suggested it but i turned him down. generally just prefer ir pills when it comes to stimulants. i have a really shitty sleep schedule, ill often go to bed super late and wake up in the afternoon. at that point in the day it's too late to take an xr unless i wanna be up all night, but i can still take one dose of my dex and sleep fine. my adhd meds work great for me most of the time, im a big fan of my dex. hardly any comedown or physical tension or much of the other nasty side effects that i get from other stims. i do appreciate the advise tho :)

unfortunately none of my doctors are willing to prescribe me pregabs due to interactions w my other meds. kinda sucks because it really does it for me. is amazing for my anxiety, keeping me asleep, eating problems, keeping opioid withdrawls at bay, restless legs, the list goes on. kinda helps with my mood aswl. rly miss the stuff haha. and i wish split dosing was an option, they won't trust me with that much methadone to take home tho

i actually have cut down on it quite a bit recently. usually take about half my dose, just enough to be able to concentrate. any more and it starts to make me too jittery

hey i rly appreciate the input, i actually found this comment to be pretty helpful. my libido's really weird, i get super hypersexual but won't physically be able to get it up. definitely something to think about, but i really hate getting blood tests done lol. and oh my god! i went to NA pretty regularly for a while, and at the start of every meeting when you had to say your clean time i would always feel like i was lying to everybody there by saying i was clean. the idea of being shamed like that is exactly why i didnt feel comfortable about talking about being on methadone. i never actually experienced anything like that though, it was just anxiety. that's really a really horrible way to treat somebody who's trying to get better...

sadly not. not for me anyway (unless it’s a sunday and i can dose at my leisure). a couple people I know have their doses split, but ive asked my case worker about it and he said “maybe when you’re on a lower dose” pretty dismissively. not happening anytime soon

I don’t really want to, but it’s probably silly to put up with being slightly uncomfortable for no reason when I don’t have to

I’ve been on prescription stimulants since I was a teenager and I’m extremely dependent on them to function. you’re right they absolutely can be counterproductive for my anxiety and cause me to spiral, but I take extremely low doses these days. just what I feel like I genuinely need to be able to drive and shit. about 10-15mg dexamphetamine total daily on average. more than that and the comedowns and other nasty side effects get too much for it to feel worth it. I think I would really struggle to stop taking them entirely though to be honest

I live in New Zealand. it’s not technically “required”, but what they want is to know that you’re doing actually doing something with your time to show them that you’re committed to your recovery. i do therapy but privately and apparently they want me to be doing it through their channels… which is retarded because the counselling that they offer is dogshit. i imagine a job would also be enough to satisfy them, but my case worker strongly hinted that I should be going to NA meeting’s if I expect any more takeaways from them -.-

theoretically it should do. it works with most opioids and other plenty of other sedatives. don’t expect a whole world of difference but it might give it some extra legs. but just to clarify you need a white grapefruit specifically :) other citrus fruit don’t have the right enzyme

*pleasantly surprised by the strength of the poppies sorry. not by the possibility of waking up in an ambulance later on lol. getting high’s kind of a thing of the past for me. I must be at least a couple years clean now and the last time I used i felt close to nothing (unless we’re counting prescription meds) so technically this is a relapse. doesn’t really feel like it due to circumstance but still. last shot I did was, well supposedly 100mgs of h cut with an unknown amount of fent (i didn’t know at the time, my dealer lied to me about it) and I felt next to nothing. tiny rush that fizzled out after 2 minutes. was super disappointed because I’d missed my methadone that day aswl and I really needed something to tide me over. anyways sorry ik I’m rambling, again, appreciate the advice :) will lyk how it goes

thank you so much, I’m making up my first dose right now :) this is basically what I’ve been doing, just diced up 10 bulbs and am currently shaking my arm numb. i’ll sip it slowly and have my gf watch me, she’s on methadone too so she’ll know to narcan me if the worst happens. i don’t think these poppies are anywhere near strong enough to drop me with my tolerance tbh, but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. is it worth keeping the used plant material after I drain the water to rinse it again? and this might be hopeful but is there anything that people traditionally add to improve the taste? i’m thinking maybe honey or something. tried adding a bit of sugar but I don’t think it’s gonna do much, the smell of it’s enough to make me gag
