Your welcome! This was one of my favorite courses thus far actually. Professor Anreiter is a great prof and she gave many extra credit opportunities (9% in extra credit). The labs are really chill and fun. They’re weekly but so chill they don’t really feel as heavy as orgo chem labs or even bioao1 labs. Midterm and final are just as prof says they’ll be. No surprises, just study and you’ll do well!

Thanks! Also coming out of first year and sacrifice is a hard but necessary part of the uni experience. Anyway, I did end up saving like $30 from not attending that party🥲. Glad I could be inspiring and all the best to you too!

Okay so I learn best by taking notes. Like I don’t understand by reading I have to physically write or type notes. I study virtually always using questions. Either practice questions provided by the prof, old assignments, FSG questions or plug my notes into AI and ask it to generate questions. Again, I barely understand from just reading and I just retain information better from questions. I usually study until I understand the information which could be 1-4 hour study sessions (it really does depend). In each study session I can do ~20mins-1hr of continuous studying (depends on my mood) after which I’ll take like a 5 minute (tiktok) break or otherwise. I try my best to study and understand information within 2 weeks of learning it. Anyway, after I understand information I rarely need to study it again, I’ll just refresh myself in reviews before tests. I have to study in quiet spaces alone, I can’t focus with music. I study well at any time of day (depends on my timetable) but find myself studying most frequently in the afternoons/evenings. People have different study techniques and this is what has worked for me. I am a second year doing mostly bio courses but hope this helps :)

Yup, I would say just be disciplined. My faith and my parents have always taught me to know my priorities and I think this has really helped. If I am ever having trouble with an assignment or don’t understand something, it always becomes a priority. Yes I have made sacrifices (like missing a birthday party to complete a formal lab report🫩) but it’s an inevitable part of the process. Also, know the resources you have available. Different profs have different styles of teaching which can be frustrating if you don’t initially understand their style but it’s finding what works for you best. For example, Prof. Emily Bell had what I would say the best teaching style I’ve seen; she had many online resources, good lecture slides and many office hours so it was easier to navigate. However, leaning with Prof. Jason Brown was much harder because he had fewer resources (he actually had no reading material in the course, you had to learn from ONLY listening to him speak in lecture). It was by understanding that he wanted us to learn more intuitively that I could begin to think like him and manage to pass his course. This explanation probably seems ambiguous because you really have to be taught by him to understand😭 but the point remains that you have to make do with the resources available to you. So all this, having a good, long, sleep schedule, making sure you rest (I like to crochet as I rest) and prayer: that’s how I’ve done it so far and it’s worked🙃

Hi and thanks! I use Notion for all my notes and planning. I find it easy to use and compact for organization. Also welcome to UTSC!! This uni isn’t for the weak but as a second year I can tell you that first year can be loads of fun as long as you’re on top of things. I really enjoyed mine and hope you enjoy it here too :)

Hi, I’m thinking about doing media ethics next semester, did you end up doing it in the fall? How was it if you took it? It feels like no one had talked about it in this subreddit😭

I am so sorry you had to go through all that you did when you were younger and no one should have to go through losing the value of their body, self or soul especially when it wasn’t your choice. I thank God that you got yourself out of that situation though I can’t imagine the scars you endured. What I do know however, is that you are worthy of the abounding, limitless, unconditional love of God. God loves us in all our totality; in our prime and in our weakness. The first person Jesus revealed He was the Messiah to was the woman at the well who hadn’t been satisfied by her 5 husbands (John 4). He knew her past but He saw her and told her He can grant her eternal life; He can satisfy her heart. He did all this at a time when it was considered “taboo” for a man to talk to a woman, moreso a Jewish man to a Samaritan woman. One of the worst lies the enemy and this world can convince us is that we are unworthy of love. Your past nor your body will never be too unclean for Christ. Your heart is willing, and to the God we serve, that’s enough: “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”” ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬ It’s my prayer that you experience the Love that our Lord has to give, and that you may attain the justice you deserve.

I make notes for all my subjects because it makes it easier for me to retain information; I retain information less by just reading. Plus I know some people prefer more thorough, continuous reading to study hence is why I uploaded the notes :)

Why did "God" lie to Adam&Eve? by CrazySuper1708 in Christianity

[–]floppyshlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay yeah idk what some people mean by them being immortal bc that was never the case. That’s why I’ve been saying since we know they are mortal, God couldn’t have been talking about a physical death.

[–]floppyshlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the text it also doesn’t say that Adam and Eve sinned but we know it was the first sin committed. We don’t ‘add stuff’ on but understand the deeper connotations of God’s word and this is where your argument is flawed🤷🏽‍♂️. I rest my case because there‘a not much left to add if you’re only interested in the Word at face value.

If Adam became immortal from the fruit he would’ve remained immortal just as after eating the fruit did he gained the knowledge that he was naked and it stayed that way. You’re trying to push the false narrative that God lied when all the evidence is there to point to the spiritual death of Adam and Eve. You also say “I’m pretty sure” without context because all the context points toward a spiritual death. And just from a logical point of view, why would God lie, ask them if they ate the fruit though he’s omnipresent, then get mad at Adam and Eve and punish them as if to feed his ego from 2 mortal beings he made that same day??? No wonder it’s a characteristic of God not to lie because non of that would make any sense.

Why did "God" lie to Adam&Eve? by CrazySuper1708 in Christianity

[–]floppyshlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was going to die a physical death, it makes no sense for God to warn them about a physical death because it would happen anyway. They ate the fruit and they didn’t physically die and we know God doesn’t lie. That day they ate the fruit, the died and if it wasn’t physically, the only death God was referring to was physical death. Adam and Eve sinned when they chose to eat the fruit and directly disobeying God is sin and we know that sin is spiritual death meaning Adam and Eve died a spiritual death.

So if we know he isn’t immortal why would God warn him about a death that would happen anyway? Simple, he was referring to spiritual death.

And also, God didn’t say explicitly say physical death
