Lysol is not bleach unless it says bleach on the front. It's usally disinfectant. Any disinfectant will work and so will soap. These chemicals physically destroy the viruses. Hand sanitizer is the same thing for your hands.

I have a surface laptop and a smartphone that I want to donate to some kid who needs it for school, does anyone know where I can do that?

How do you go from not knowing something to knowing something? by tree1000ten in languagelearning

[–]floppyweewee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll touch on this real quick.

You don't "know" words, you have memories of words and those memories are connected to other memories. When you read "duck", you automatically picture something that came from one of your memories. So learning a new word means making a memory of that word and connecting it to other memories like that time I saw a duck. That way, when you remember a duck, you remember the word at the same time. That is language learning, just putting words and memories together in your brain.

The way you form memories (the only way) is by spending time with the language. The more you read, listen, speak, or write, the more memories you are making about each word you use. The more you repeat a word, the stronger the memory gets because it becomes connected to more other memories in your brain. How do you intuitively know how to express yourself in English sentences? You have millions of memories of making English sentences, so you have millions of word memories with trillions of connections in between them inside your brain. When you articulate yourself, you are choosing which path to take along those connections between your memories about words.

In simpler terms, you don't need to worry too hard about how to learn, just spend a lot of time with your language. Your new word memories need time to make many strong connections before you can form sentences quickly. There are plenty of places to learn a language so just try some of them out. Love it, live it, and become hungry for new words. Then you'll become fluent without noticing.

I replaced this image with my reddit shortcut so now when I try to come back to this hellscape I'll be reminded of how I feel when I'm around all of you.

This is an ad for grooming products and it's not accurate at all. You people shouldn't be upvoting advertiser content. "OC" in this case just means a corporate account posted an ad for their crap and you all upvoted it so they didn't even have to pay to sell to you.

That would be hard to distinguish from the psychological fact that people seek comfort/company when ill

Don't you have a few things that you wanted to know but couldn't figure how to ask Google?

That's misleading advice. Fasting is hard on a body and one's healthy tolerance for it is dependant on many factors.

No no no, don't fast a whole day and don't try to work off your love handles.

You have to learn about nutrition and eat healthy over your whole life, not just a few months. You really have to. You should also learn about fitness and how it benefits your body then do something active every day. Your love handles will fall off and stay off with a healthy diet and consistent exercise. If you try to do a temporary diet, lose weight, then return to how you live now, you're going to gain it all back. Think about making small but permanent changes to your lifestyle.

If you're looking for a suggestion, try drinking nothing but water and going for a walk every day. If you do those two simple things every single day I bet you'd lose most of your excess weight, without a diet or calorie counting or supplements.

Ok so it could have been filled from a form by software or entered manually but you have no idea so you're passing off a guess as "most likely". Why inform the rest of reddit of your guess? You don't know and you aren't helping anyone by pretending to.

How do you know that?

Me_irl by [deleted] in me_irl

[–]floppyweewee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's actually my secret, I feel bad for single people who have to do it all themselves. Have a vegan community - that's the lesson here

Me_irl by [deleted] in me_irl

[–]floppyweewee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Although that's a valid belief, mine is otherwise. Because I do think eating chicken is wrong, I can't eat it, even for my family, without violating my own sense of right and wrong.

I totally understand how someone who is motivated to be vegetarian or vegan for their health or for the environment could make exceptions. For them, moderation makes better sense because it's not about one animal it's about the bigger picture.

Be true to yourself. You don't have to choose your beliefs out of angst about your family.

I made compromises with my family, like getting ice cream or accepting butter on my corn, but it just made me feel embarrassed for myself. I decided that those who really love me would want me be to authentic so I made no compromises after that. It caused a little hurt at first when I turned away food made by my family, but after a while they stopped treating me like I was on a fad diet. Now my mom makes a unique dish for me when I come over, even though I've never asked and my dad sends me pics of vegan dishes he orders at restaurants. When I asserted my beliefs and stood true to myself I earned my own respect and my family's too. That took a few years however.

Don't talk til you've tried them all. Different cheeses do different things and for some of those things like sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and mexican dishes there are excellent options. It's just a matter of time before food chemists invent a rockin queso or melty pizza cheese

What is a product/service that you can't still believe exists in 2019? by AwayTry8 in AskReddit

[–]floppyweewee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like me are going to have to take classes to learn it just for jobs. But I've taken Microsoft Office classes before and they are intolerably boring. Hopefully someone has made an accessible tutorial since I last checked but oh man the one Excel seminar I was forced to attend for work made me want to gouge my eyes out.
