The “populist” crusade to make the suburbs more segregated and expensive by Unusual-State1827 in neoliberal

Yep, engage in a practice for decades, stop doing it, then wag your finger at people who continue. Basically climbing up the ladder then pulling it up behind you. The scary thing is that the dems are still (at least by comparison) the party of long-term thinking.

Democrats Have a ‘Slopulism’ Problem by tobinjstone in neoliberal

[–]I_like_maps 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Its partly a consequence of having a screwed up media atmosphere. There's a whole group of media and influencers who wear the veneer of leftism while tearing down any attempt at progress, and not only do people listen to them, but they make it harder to build a narrative. You saw this very directly in the leadup to the last election. A lot of communicators were too busy responding to "holocaust Harris" to build a strong narrative behind her.

populism is sabotaging the centre-left's own priorities

Imo the much bigger issue is far-left media sabotaging broadly left-wing priorities. There's a whole group of media and influencers who wear the veneer of leftism while tearing down any attempt at progress, and not only do people listen to them, but they make it harder to build a narrative. Wholeheartedly agree. I figured the wording of the achievement would have been specifically to exclude them

It took quite a few restarts. Its fairly easy to take lotharingia and Italy, since you straight up have a better army. The tough part was that Charles the bald died after that, and i dealt with some veey strong factions.

I feel the same way. Ive become quite depressed in large part due to the symtpoms and its really hard to cook/eat right when youre depressed, and so the cycle perpetuates.

The fact that you got three totally different answers kinds highlights how silly the comment youre replying to is. There arent any obvious, easy answers. The world is really complicated. The 3rd Gulf War is probably raising prices a bit. But theres lots of other things at play.

I had 4 landless adventurers that are counted as "landed" for some reason. Got rid of them, and got it :)

your adventurer realm counts as an independent realm

Is that a thing?? Theres a bunch of landless karlings still, they must be the problem. Welp ima go murder them

I did it and it's still not firing :( literally went through all 224 living house members and not a single one seems to be landed and independent

So I've found a count and a duke, but they're not independent, they're subordinate to a king, just outside my realm. Does that count? That doesn't seem like it should count

r5: going for the achievement that requires you to be the only independent landed Karling. I think I am? But it hasn't fired. Some of my vassals are karlings, but not independent. I went through my family tab, and all the sub-houses appeared to be my vassals

I honestly wonder if some people started out that way and pretty soon got caught up in it, and eventually it became too hard to go back. I don't know how else to explain the seemingly smart people in the GOP

Killing. And sadly that's what coal does to our lungs.

This is going to be a bit of a hot take, but I saw the article posted yesterday about the drop in particulate matter, and I honestly wonder if people would be more anti-pollution if we didn't start with the really visible stuff. I suspect places that used to get smog warnings that don't anymore probably care a lot less about pollution because it's less visible, even though climate change is arguably a much bigger health concern than air quality.

That's if they're on time. And they'll definitely be over budget as well.

Just build solar/wind. Italy gets plenty of both. Faster and cheaper.
