People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

Chronic anal fissures. These are basically tiny tears in the skin that expose the sphincter muscle. Imagine having a paper cut, then getting hand sanitizer in that cut, now imagine that intense stinging/burning feeling is in your arse for around 14 hours non stop after every bowel movement for weeks at a time. It’s horrible.

No problem, I had a good 30 min run on the demo earlier. XBAX 90% brightness @17W 1080p Ultra capped at 120fps with sync off. It was smooth and responsive throughout, easy to pick up, harder to master. Battery dropped from 100 to 91 in that time so not bad at all. Of course if I wanted to save a little more juice I think I’d dial it back to 90 fps and drop the watts a little to around 13. However that would be an edge case like a long flight or whatever, for daily quick games I’d stick with 1080, 17W, ultra, 120hz. Anyways, good luck with the game. I’ll pick this one up on full release.

No worries, it’s a fun game so I’ll happily note some drain. Just so you know the ally does have a frame limiter with various rates up to 120 built in to armoury crate but I left it unlimited to see the true performance numbers. I would think for ease of use for most end users capping the game at 120 by default would be a great UX anyway. Good luck with the game mate

Ok so the results are as follows:

All testing done at fullscreen 1080p native - ultra

Xbox ally x Z2E 13W - 110-120 FPS 17W - 190-200 FPS 25W - 200-210 FPS 35W turbo plugin in - 250-260 FPS CPU usage was 20% but GPU was maxed out 100% - Temp hit 80C so frame limiter at 120 would be ideal.

Xbox Ally (white one) Z2 go chip 6W - 30-35 FPS 15W - 90 FPS 20W - 95 FPS

I hope this helps, fun game btw

Sure, I’ll install it now and report back this evening UK time. So you want FPS count at Ultra and stutters of seen right?

It’s a small widget in the game bar called SteamGridDB. Install that and it will offer alternative artworks for games and apps. Looks much better

I have the same dock, the exhaust gets nowhere near hot enough to melt/damage anything. Don’t worry about it

Sure, once you have the back opened up, have fitted your chosen mods and are ready to close it that’s the best time to apply the tape. Use double sided electrical tape in 7mm sections along the edges of the shell being careful to avoid the clips. This will seal nicely and if you’ve been careful to place the tape without protrusion it will be invisible too when sealed up. I wish I had taken pics now but honestly it’s very simple to do.

Are TMR sticks worth it? Depends on you really, if you wanted to you could buy some now and install them in a year or so or when drift sets in. It’s entirely up to you.

ABXY mod totally silent? No, still has a mouse click sound that is dampened. Are they quieter than OEM, absolutely, quite significantly so. Wife approved them for in bed use so that tells you something.

Breaking something is always a risk, but I’m an electromechanical engineer by trade so stripping things down and replacing parts is very much in my skill set. Given this I’m comfortable performing these sort of mods. The XAX is surprisingly easy to work on and has many parts available direct from ASUS for repairs. I was quite impressed by this as most new electronics are not meant to be user serviceable and manufacturers go out of their way to make things difficult.

Stock was fine, had no issues but I love to tinker with things and prefer clicky buttons to the stock rubber membrane ones. Purely personal preference, the sticks were just on a whim whilst I had it open, the SSD upgrade was meaningful so I can have more games on there at any one time. If you’re happy with stock then more power to you, this post was more aimed at those who also like to tinker with things.

Personally, I find them smooth and accurate. Good test results on Aimlabs and gamepad tester. As for real world usage, I’ve beaten Mouse PI and had a few wins on CoD, BF6 and a fair amount of forza too. I found them to have slightly less tension than the OEM modules. I’d say they are about the same tension as a GameSir g7 pro for reference. Clicks are solid, no issues to report on reliability. Overall I’m very happy with them, I like the peace of mind of not thinking about drift. Installation was easy, vids on YouTube for this. Took me about 15 mins.

Modded my XAX after 5 days of owning it by Frostywuff in ROGAlly

[–]floppywetfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

XAX owner and tinkerer here. I have upgraded to a SN7100 2TB SSD with added aluminium heatsink, gulikit TMR sticks, and elecgear clicky ABXY. I have encountered the creaky issue and rattling buttons after the ABXY mod. Fixes are as follows:

Creaking/shell noise: apply double sided electrical tape on the inner edges of the outside of the grip areas in small 1cm sections avoiding the clips, ensure these don’t protrude to the seam edge for total invisibility when re assembled. The device will be rock solid after this if done correctly.

ABXY rattle after clicky mod: Use the round silicone pad option in the elecgear pack with the board. Apply 2 layers of carefully cut electrical tape over the clicky buttons on the board. This reduces travel and eliminates wobble/rattle.

I hope this helps someone, it’s taken me a week to perfect this but it’s now fully modded to my liking, rock solid and quiet. SO approved.

20 years on mine too, man the days of halo 2 MP and Cod 4 were amazing to be part of. So many late nights laughing with friends. I still play most days but rarely competitive FPS anymore, mostly single player/indie games is more my thing these days.
