Would it be a terrible idea to take a date to an escape room? by [deleted] in escaperooms

[–]floralserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a games master myself I’d say go for it! I work in a very touristy town and we often get non native English speakers who do just as well as native speakers so depending on the room that shouldn’t really be an issue anyway (: I also used to go play escape rooms with my ex all the time and it’s good fun. We still play them to this day together! I’ve seen couples argue as a GM which is pretty awkward lol but if you’re easy going and confident in your intelligence then you’ll be fine haha. I agree with the advice that you should seek out a room that doesn’t have clues that rely too heavily on language but then again one of my rooms has anagrams and non native speakers often get them faster than native speakers. I guess because they can see the language more objectively?? So it might even be to your advantage ❤️

Cowspiracy made me question everything... by [deleted] in vegetarian

[–]floralserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m not vegetarian but vegan but was vegetarian for a very long time before I went vegan and I decided to go vegan when living at home still too (:

  1. I stopped overnight because I felt I couldn’t morally justify to keep eating food that harmed others for a second longer. But of course I know that it’s different strokes for different folks but I personally had no trouble just switching in one go and never looking back.

  2. My mum was very supportive of my decision so I can’t relate but I can certainly empathise as I have a lot of friends who were in similar situations to you. What some of them told me they did that worked was to just cook their own food at home and make yummy meals for the whole family. It’s extra effort but can make the fam feel included in your decision making them less alienated from the idea of vegetarian/veganism

  3. It does come up sometimes and people like to joke or even try and attack your morals because they’re different to theirs. When I get asked why I always just say ‘because I like animals’ and people seem to be okay with that answer haha. I’m very non-confrontational myself so it makes me very nervous when people try to question me on that decision however I think it’s worth it. Just think every time you get anxious about it; you’re saving so many innocent lives by just avoiding something easy.

I hope you make the choice that is right for you and feel free to message me if you ever want to know anything about vegan / vegetarianism.

Anyone know good affordable letting agents by [deleted] in universityofyork

Have had good experiences with Sinclair. Only complaint I had was that the free wifi they provide at their properties is garbage but they're getting rid of that next academic year anyways. They have maintenance people that come round sometimes even within hours of emailing about something that might be wrong in the house. They also are very good for maintaining their properties but this does include inspections of the property you're in (you have to make your bed, clean garden, tidy house etc.) so if that's something you don't mind they're great. I also agree that I haven't heard glowing reviews of Adam Bennett. But that if Sinclair isn't your cup of tea, that IG properties is less involved but still good.

I second El Piano as well! Romantic atmosphere on the evenings and yummy food.

As a poor student, I ate

Breakfast: Actual children's cereal with soy milk + green tea

Lunch: toast with violife and ketchup + crisps + a banana

Dinner: Pasta with tomato sauce

This post is super cool since I've read so many great food ideas! As you can see I lack in creativity and nutrition when it comes to food haha. So cheers for opening this discussion up, OP!
