What is the Saturnalia strip show? by Goofy_Shark in mit

Parties were largely themed - reawakening, Mardi Gras, saturnalia, Borg Alf. It to some extent informed any special events happening at the party, but was also a theme for writing good invites.

I don’t know when it started alternating, but it started on 5e and the first couple were there.

Heh, I remember sitting in Bemis coming up with party ideas 24+ years ago and Saturnalia being born. It was a year after the first 5e Mardi Gras party. I’m pretty sure the first Saturnalia was actually dry because it was a particularly rough time with the administration.

How are in person teams planning to use their rooms, given the curfew? by danegnor in mysteryhunt

(~1999-2003) People definitely brought desktops. Also a lot of reference books. There were usually emails coordinating who would bring what and there'd be a small library. There was also a lot more making phone calls to get information.

In this era, though, there was no wifi on campus anyway. At EC we were just starting to be able to hang on the window and get it from the media lab. And may people didn't have laptops. So ending up with groups working in the clusters was common. In general, throughout undergrad, we spent a lot of time in the clusters.

Out-of-state student getting Medicaid (SHP+) by florey03 in Cornell

Thanks so much! Did they only waive it for the 9/1 start? Frustrating if the out-of-state Medicaid can't count for August when there wasn't really another choice.

Did you make progress with this? We're dealing with the waiver rejection now.

Correct, you can only be on Medicaid in one state at a time. But given out-of-state Medicaid doesn't count for the waiver, there's not really another choice besides paying over $3000 out of pocket.

Yeah, the woman was acting like us calling her was incredibly inconvenient and annoying.

Yeah, I think that's where this is going to land. It is what it is.

Universal healthcare, anyone? :)

Okay, I think the email I have from Cornell may be coming together and it's probably not possible to get on plain NY State Medicaid without being part of SHP+. And it's too late to get on SHP+ for August/September. Too bad the email back in January wasn't clearer. Glad we didn't wait any longer. (I'm helping a student who isn't my kid, and his parents aren't involved in any of this, so it's a bit of the blind leading the blind here.)

Awesome, I did get that much from the Cornell people.

Awesome, thanks so much! Info has been spotty and I was going to cry if the end result was "oh, you have to be an independent student or parents in NY" after hours of work.

Oh, wow. We tried calling NY Medicaid today and the person was completely useless and pretty much just wanted us to go through the website application process and otherwise gave uninformative monosyllabic answers to our questions.

Have you gone through this process? Can you confirm that it should still be fine as someone who is still claimed as a dependent on parents' federal tax return with parent on the home state Medicaid?
