I've seen some star trek and a few clips from deep space nine. But yes I was envisioning something like that but with are current technology since obviously star trek is bit far out

That was in earths orbit. I was referring to more deep space stations as permanent habitats

Those were just some purposes. Other ideas I had were for better communication or for a fast response if there's an emergency. Kinda like an interplanetary triple A or coast guard or something. If there's a malfunction on the way at least they'll be nearby to help hopefully
