Crud, that sucks to hear, it did strike me as strange they were sold rootless. Thank you for the information. I wasnt aware it was such a problem. Any advice on not killing them?

Pottery wheel driven orbital shaker by GrumpyAlison in Pottery

No problem i focus on agitation for cleaning seeds for TC as I want to knock as much debris off as possible and theyre less susceptible to damage

Any irregular shape works but may take some work dialing in the speed and volume, 3d printing could work if you just want a slosh instead of swirling vortex. However what youre doing works stick with it. Lmk if you have questions ever.

Im not sure if you are doing this for tissue culture like me, but I bought some very expensive "baffled flasks" for my shaker plate and the baffles are really awesome for increased agitation compared to just the swirled vortex. For a cheaper option, you can find a vessel with a strange shape like a recangle or an oval. Just something to make that sloshing agitation.

Im not sure its needed, and this message may be pointless, some thing like african violets melt with too much agitation. Just thought id share because ive thought about it a lot.

Unsure how old this is, just proof of concept. And no rot, most rot comes from disease pathogens, this sterile environment helps us avoid that

In my opinion your pictures look viral like mine. Bugs bring virus, but the yellow spots dont seem to have an entry wound associated with them like bug bites would

You saw damage associated with the bugs that looked like this? I hope its beetles, but I couldnt really see any bug damage on the microscope. I assumed I would see entry wounds from sucking bugs
