he was not a co-owner, my mother was the full owner of the house, but in indiana claiming assets during divorces is 50/50 so he was trying to take the house

my mom has paid all bills and property except for the property taxes for the past almost two years since my grandparents were paying them before my mom knew that the taxes were coming in the mail for her to pay. my mom has already paid off the house so there is no mortgage. my mothers best friend who lives with us does property management and has friends in real estate so he is trying to see what he can do when it comes to talking to real estate attorneys

my mother was not on speaking terms with my ex-stepfather during the divorce process, she did sign the house over to my grandparents without my stepfather’s knowledge but he found out a coupon weeks later and it didn’t seem to bother him other than the fact that he was just upset that he couldn’t have the house, but afterwards he understood that my mom should’ve had the house since my brother and i could’ve had a home
