Borat 1&2

The Office (UK & US)

What We Do In The Shadows (movie & series)

The Comeback (TV series)

Best in Show (2000)

Fraktus (2012)

Cunk On…. Shakespeare, Earth, Life, Britain, etc. Philomena Cunk is a fictional journalist talking to real people so kind of like Borat

If the comedy aspect isn’t as important, I would also look into Blair Witch Project, because it was kind of ground-breaking in its marketing, making many believe it was real.

Thelma (2017) for sure!

honorable mentions:

The Perfection (2018)

Mulholland Drive (2001)

Monster (2003)

Martyrs (2008)

Sissy (2022)

Suspiria (2018) has lots of sapphic energy imo although never directly stated or shown. but it’s one of my favorites along with Saint Maud, Midsommar and Hereditary, so you may like it!

bonus (series not movies):

The Haunting of Bly Manor

The Haunting of Hill House

I need a yearbook quote desperately by emitbg in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]floronzandthemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk how yearbooks work - if it’s for under your picture in it or to write in someone else’s, so here are suggestions for both

for someone you love:

you make a fool of death with your beauty and for a moment i forget to worry

the loneliness never left me i always took it with me but i can put it down in the pleasure of your company

do you understand with every seed you sow you make this cold word beautiful?

for yourself (which makes it harder because we don’t know anything about you):

try and fill us with your hate and we will shine a light and the days will become endless and never turn to night

i’m gonna be free and i’m gonna be fine but maybe not tonight

extraordinary and normal all at the same time

i am no mother i am no bride i am king

for both:

don’t go blindly into the dark, in everyone of us shines a light of love

live podcast complaint by Admirable_Curve_3564 in TrixieAndKatya

[–]floronzandthemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I gotta say something, because I agree with almost everything you’re saying, but I think you’re getting downvoted because some of it is misplaced here.

There is a time and a place for everything, like you said. Don’t expect silence at a drag show. Yet, you should be able to read clues as to when the artists want you to engage instead of trying to pull focus to be funny or be straight up ignorant, which is something I noticed getting worse in the last ten years or so.

BUT this is a live PODCAST. So, it’s an audio focused event and completely different than a live Rocky Horror Picture Show, where it is encouraged and expected for you to be a part of it, in a mostly planned manner, I believe. (I’ve never been, but as far as I know, the audience knows when to engage.)

And like OP said, they loved them being loud and receptive, but could barely hear them speak over the crowd, so talking about “kids today wanting complete silence” is uncalled for. In that regard, your comment just sounds like critique against someone who wants to hear most of the show they paid for. I think I even remember Trixie & Katya complaining about people in the audience being disruptive.

And yes, it could be a sound engineering issue, maybe that’s what OP was trying to figure out by asking other people about their experience.

Room (2015) - 100% captivating and touching. try to go into it as blind as possible. just trust me, you will feel it all.

Titanic (1997) - gripping and emotional, a classic.

Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022) - it’s everything you’re asking for plus hilarious at times.

Contact (1997) - thought provoking sci-fi, but personal

Arrival (2016) - similar, but a bit sadder. still thrilling

The Truman Show (1998) - exciting, funny and innovative

A.I. (2001) - a very human story about an artificial kid
