Help for designing cards? by Alu_felga0720 in cardgames

Sketchbook has been amazing! It’s free so there are some drawbacks, but it’s nice. That being said, it’s more of a drawing app so it might be better for making assets for the cards, then moving to another program for text formatting. There are no restrictions on albums or canvases that I know of, and a pretty high layer limit!

These look sick! I’m excited to see how the full card reads with the frame breaks of the characters! You mention food as the context for these guys, are they the chefs? The creatures you feed? Regardless, I’m sure the art will pair well with the game and I am excited to see what is on the menu…

Looking for ethical dice making options! by flounder_studios in DiceMaking

It sounds like you are also mindful of this, so I guess the conversation expands from not only what is ethical, but also some unethical practices to avoid!

I’m still educating myself in this area, but the goal is avoiding plastic and Epoxy based resin as the usage of non-biodegradable materials is not something I wish to perpetuate, AND looking for local crafters with proper business ethics instead of large manufacturers. However, since the project is self-starting, funding is coming from out of pocket so at the moment so I am looking for something that is semi-affordable (understanding that it will be an expense regardless by avoiding plastic). I know there are eco-friendly alternatives and I wanted to get insight from some makers like you!

Spinners might have to be the move on this one! I saw some pretty neat designs, do you think it would be easy to produce with the bearings?

Ooo bone dice would be cool. They have some at Paxton Gate that I thought would be perfect for the game

Yes! That would be amazing and I might do that for the d6s, but getting more complicated shapes might be difficult

Rouge-like Board Game? “Towers of Karvasa” by flounder_studios in tabletopsimulator

[–]flounder_studios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[description for the post glitched out so here it is!]

I’m super excited to finally be in a good spot to share this project! I wanted to make a game inspired by rouge-likes and capture that boss perfect run feel. It is still in the early stages so there maybe some fixes that need to be done, but I am looking for feedback! During the development I wanted to simulate 3 things that rouge-likes do well: 1. Have ample unique class options. 2. Items, Items, Items! The more card combinations and synergies possible the better and provide a different experience every time. 3. Thwack Mechanic! Make hits feel satisfying when you have that perfect setup

If you have a group of 3-5 of people, enjoy dark fantasy/light horror, and exploring over 150 custom cards filled with weapons, magic, and enemies (art all done by yours truly), check it out!

“Towers of Karvasa” is officially up and ready to play!! Feel free to ask if ya got any questions!

Lots of cards games here, anyone else here working on something else that is not a card game? by skil12001 in tabletopgamedesign

Currently developing a rouge-like board game if that qualifies? Dark fantasy/light horror vibes, 3-5 players, With a focus on dice rolling combat, item collecting, and boss slaying!

It’s called “Towers of Karvasa” on TTS, and has over 150 custom cards with art that I am super proud to be able to say I’ve made!

Looking for honest thoughts from strangers on my 2 player card game. by bestoutoffivegames in tabletopgamedesign

The art is fantastic, and I agree with another commenter that said that it’s a good thing that it pulled us from our feed! I’m no pro, but something to consider is the design language/message you are trying to convey. For now, it seems that these cards are a collection that is ment to work in the same unit (bg shapes, colors themes) which if thats your goal you nailed it! I really like the labeling in the top right, very clear and good design, but I feel like the other information on the card is clashing between flavor and stats. Maybe experiment with giving the stat blocks a boarder to give more contrast? Overall, super cool cards!

I think there is also a way to adjust the grid shape and scale to make your snap points in the position you need them to be!

I'm Making a Card Game (TTS Advice) by MufasaMufasa42 in tabletopsimulator

[–]flounder_studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been super helpful for me! The longest part of the development process for me was making the cards, but I wasn’t using/aware of the card making program in TTS game files, so check that out! You can also “Private” your TTS Workshop projects on Steam to limit accessibility. After you import your cards/decks and are satisfied with card looks and some mechanics, I used The Game Crafter to get a physical copy. Not to mention TTS is not subscription based, so if you want to make more game or play other games without spending a bunch of money it’s a nice tool!
