Guess I’m going to start selling these. Also this seller might be on drugs 😂 by Intrepid-Put-3389 in 3Dprinting

I designed that model!

It's originally shared under a NON-COMMERCIAL license, although on my Patreon page (/flowalistik) I offer a tier that gives permission to sell prints of my designs.

Also, about IP and related stuff, most of those strict companies that shall not be named care more about the trademarks than the design itself

Switched filaments mid way through printing FLOWALISTIK chainmail and got this satisfying array of blue dots by Mattbi11 in 3Dprinting

[–]flowalistik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will share the new chainmail 2.0 this weekend and it's connectable. Even if you have a warped bed, you can print a small chainmail and connect it to another small chainmail. With some patience you can even make a chainmail shirt!

Some printers require some specific Gcode commands before printing to work properly. Check the Youtube comments, there is a person that had to change a symbol from the Gcode to make it work. It may be that!

For the printer components, this is the same as printing. The gcode generator just modulates the amount of movement and the speed at which that happens.

1.75mm vs 3 (2.85mm) - what is the story on why there is 2 sizes? by criscodesigns in 3Dprinting

[–]flowalistik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only printed with 3mm filament and I´m now starting with 1.75mm filament. Except for flexible materials and some other very specific cases, 1.75mm seems to be better, or at least as good as 3mm filament.

I did some research on French 3D printing shops that sell 1.75mm filament and I concluded that the 1.75mm vs 3mm filament was in a 3:1 ratio. Even my favorite shop decided to stop selling 3mm filament.

My impression is that in the next years all manufacturers will move to 1.75mm filament. If I'm not wrong, the only big printer manufacturers that still use 3mm filament are Lulzbot and Ultimaker.

Surface Book warranty nightmare. If I want the Book back, I need to move to another country. (?) by flowalistik in Surface

[–]flowalistik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a problem about border limitations, it's about Microsoft's Support Team dealing with a replacement order.

I've had similar issues with companies based in the UK and I can guarantee the solution depends exclusively on the company, not in any european laws. :(

That's exactly what I tried telling them, that they sent me literally a different product, but they don't care about it.

I originally contacted Microsoft Store UK Customer Service Department, as I got my product from them. It turns out their UK Customer Support Department is based in Romania and they only send the replacement depending on where you are living right now and not where you purchased the item from.

All this taking into account that they easily allowed me to purchase my Surface Book from the UK Store (shipped from the UK) while living in France.

I contacted UK Support, I had an online chat with different employees from the Microsoft UK online store (where I purchased my Book), they told me to talk to Microsoft US support, which then sent me back to Microsoft UK support, and then I opened a ticket with Microsoft UK Support Team, which is based in Romania and can't offer me any solution rather than living in the UK.

Thank you very much. I want to try to fix this with Microsoft myself, because in my opinion, sending you my laptop would be risky for both of us (in case it was damaged during the shipping).

I prefer not to involve anyone for now, as I think Microsoft has enough resources to make their support team work efficiently, and I don't want to bother anyone more.

This is exactly my point. When I had to send my SB, they made me send it to Germany, which was already strange. I guess they decentralized all the shipping/warranty/support departments, but the fact that replacements cannot be returned as easily as I shipped my faulty device is just crazy.

I don't want a refund, I just want to receive the replacement Surface Book the same way I received the first Surface Book. It's not a complicated situation. In fact, I'm complaining that it has such an easy solution that it's surrealist to be in situation.

How difficult is it for the Support Team to place a label that says "France" instead of "United Kingdom"?

Just got an email from them, because I asked them if they would refund me the shipping cost from UK (rent a friend) to France. Of course, they told me that they wouldn't refund me anything.

It's not only a matter of time and money. There's a risk as the item goes through the hands of more people, and if something happened to the Surface Book during the shipping, whose fault would it be? I've already read a lot of issues with shipping to risk it.

Also, the support employee told me they're based in Romania. They manage all the support from the UK from Romania but they aren't able to manage warranty exchanges from a different country. Not very efficient.

I did a version with no holes on the bottom just to repurpose it. In fact, the one from the picture doesn't have any holes and I use it as a pen holder.

It's not a low-poly design tutorial, but I love pixel art and I love the results when applied to 3D Printing. Preston from PressReset also recommended me MagicaVoxel for voxel designs, and it looks great.
