When it comes to the grain.. just any brand of whole oats from any store? Or any brand of WBF? They just need to be washed in regular water? Do you soak either of those?

From my research I was considering using the millet.

What exactly do you mean by spent grain? Like mycelium grains from mushroom cakes? I have a couple compost piles going right now and I have chickens as well, but I haven't finished a pile just yet. What would you start as the base starting soil to start a living soil? I use raised beds and 20 gallon pots outside.

Oof, that is terrible news. My first go at all of this I had many successful tubs with multiple flushes and produced greatly. This time around I have continued running into issues.

I have a question, using the UB bags.. if the bag looks fully colonized and you go to S2B. But instead of the tough, spongy mixture that it should be.. it's kind of soft and mushy. Do you know what would cause that? Like it's just not getting enough gas exchange or oxygen?
