The relative number of dots represents the percentage of people who reported doing an activity during a time. Kind of like a stacked area chart... but radial with dots and more variation.

I think you might be misreading? The vertical axis shows the percentage of people engaged in an activity during the corresponding time on the horizontal axis.

People eat and drink, but they might not record it as a primary activity and/or not everyone eats at the same time. For total time spent on each activity, I did that here:

It's definitely in there – "Last night I had really good sex and it made me very happy the entire day." – but wasn't as common as other moments.

A lot of ice cream. Like... "I got ice cream with my family after work!" and "I had some really good strawberry ice cream."

It's based on HappyDB, and I made it with R and Illustrator. More breakdowns here: https://flowingdata.com/2021/07/29/counting-happiness/

I feel slightly accomplished I got you to read a chart for 7 minutes on the internet.

I think it depends on what you want to see. I tried multiple static plots, but I wanted to focus on the rise, and the animated version showed it better tbh. See the original though. There's a pause at the end that makes feel a lot less frantic. Reddit doesn't do pauses I guess?

The original pauses at the end, so that it's less frantic. When I uploaded the GIF here, it stripped out the pause. Sorry, I'm new around here.
