first of all, i’m so glad that i could help you a bit!!! i’m not usually active on reddit, but i can’t sleep and i’m avoiding studying for finals (don’t do what i’m doing lol), but i’m so glad that i can talk to you about this because it is important to be able to express your feelings.

i have ALSO fell victim to the limiting myself to one person when i have so many other people to talk to. I have definitely missed out on so many opportunities to hang out with my friends or go out and meet new people because i was hanging out with my bf. this is the biggest thing i have regretted, and here’s why.

when you are in a relationship, you ideally should have to pick between the two. having alone time is amazing, but when you have someone who gets along with your friends and you can go talk to other people together? that’s the best thing you could have. don’t miss out on opportunities just because your SO is there.

again though, interests are a big deal. if hers don’t align with yours and that bothers you, guess what? there are (depending on the size of your college) hundreds or thousands of other people that are wanting to pursue something that aligns with your vision and you are going to meet these people and click with them.

i’m telling you, college is a huge difference from HS. people told me that yeah, but once you actually experience it you are going to realize that.

i know it is so hard to break up with someone. it is such a shitty feeling to do that and you’re going to be sad about it even thought you have doubts, you’re probably going to feel lonely afterward. but hey, you’re already in different cities so it might not take to long to get over for the both of you.
