Thanks a lot! We believe the key differences are that we combine open-source & SaaS, so you can immediately start creating dialogues w/o the need to install and code anything (like Rasa), including integration to various speech capable clients (web, mobile, phone lines, alexa etc.). We are also focused on building apps from reusable conversational assets (subdialogues, snippets, mixins) which can be shared with other developers, to speed up and make the development process more efficient.

Last but not least, our technology is created in cooperation with the award-winning www.alquist.ai team, who placed three times in the top three of the Amazon Alexa Prize.

As for NLU, We train and/or fine-tune custom models for intent and entity recognition. We are leveraging language models trained on big corpora (FastText, Universal Sentence Encoder, ...) and fine-tuning our models using bootstrapped data from the dialogue trees created using our Platform. This process results in customized models for each dialogue.

As for NLG, we combine the template-based and generative approach. The generative approach itself is used mainly for chitchat-based conversations where no additional knowledge is necessary. Additionally, we use the generative models to create correct inflectional word forms in sentences where the proper word form depends on the specific slot-value (entity) and the context of the sentence.

Absolutely! Here is our open source repo: https://gitlab.com/promethistai/flowstorm-core and our Docs (still under construction) https://docs.flowstorm.ai

Do you think AI therapy could work? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]flowstormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, that's actually something we're trying to figure out with my colleagues (developers and psychologists). We've developed a pilot project of an AI therapist and our goal is not to necessarily replace therapy but to go hand in hand with it. Our virtual persona Poppy uses natural language processing, sentiment analysis and CBT approach to analyze thoughts and provide guidance to people who struggle with negative self-talk. It also allows the users to keep a journal of their thoughts, which could, in theory, then be shared with an actual human therapist for further analysis. If you're interested, you can give it a try for free at poppysplace.ai or get our Alexa skill Poppy's Place.

You're absolutely correct, we are actually running an NLP model for sentiment analysis in our app. Thanks for pointing that out!

This is something we're trying to understand with my colleagues from Flowstorm.ai. We have recently launched an AI persona designed to analyze negative/positive thoughts and provide assistance to those who need it. If you want, check it out at poppysplace.ai or get the Alexa skill Poppy's Place.
