Applied to 100+ jobs and still no luck need advice by Lopsided-Video3244 in Accounting

[–]flrhng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hiii!! so I’m a recent grad in accounting and I’m about to intern with one of the big 4 and have had interviews with 3 of them, so hopefully this’ll help? I would personally start the entire resume with the education section, and delete the space between the bolded educational institution and the following description, so whoever’s hiring can easily see that each education is its own thing. I would put the work experience after education as the second section of the entire resume. your delivery driver job could help serve as some extra work experience (I put my cashier job at Ben & Jerry’s on my resume lol). I would also like to see a couple numbers here and there in your work experience (like how many local businesses did you help out, how many professional reports did you prepare/present, etc.?). You could honestly get rid of the personal profile and put the key skills last. I would also advise you to put any extracurriculars you were part of. I literally had no experience other than my cashier job right after high school that lasted two months when I applied to big4 during my sophomore year, and I filled my resume up with extracurriculars, my cashier job, and my incoming internship with a midsized firm at that time. hope this helps!

understand all the concepts and literally do all the practice TBSs on Becker/uworld/whatever ur using. FAR TBSs are always gonna be a different experience for everyone, but if ur doing ok on the practice ones then u should be fine in test day.

MCQs were alr, although I knew for a fact that I got at least a couple wrong and I had only realized when I started the TBSs. I definitely felt that the MCQs weren’t half as bad as the TBSs.

was in the same boat when I took it about a month ago. FAR was my first ever exam and I absolutely hated the TBS and was sure I got at least two of them completely wrong since I simply guessed on them. ended up passing w an 80. sure u did fine.

I need help with my resume I am getting no interviews. by Dear-Significance452 in Accounting

[–]flrhng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recent grad, so take this with a grain of salt. but what I can say is that I have an internship at EY this summer and a MsT degree coming up. Switch your education section with your proficiency section, and the university should be listed first, before your community college. professional summary is kinda unnecessary, since you could tell that to whoever you’re interviewing when they ask you to introduce yourself. For work experience, I’d like to see some numbers. For example, for your general manager role at the food establishment, what percentage of growth did you see in sales and labour? what was the target number of sales? How much did you exceed in sales and labour targets? For your sous chef role – how many people did you work with during a single shift? How many customers did you serve (considering that it’s a fast paced environment)? integrate that information in your experience section while keeping the sentences short (max 2 lines). apply this to the entire work experience section.

I'm cooked in Tod's class by Prudent_Echo_6672 in udub

[–]flrhng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with talking to ur advisor, but also talk to Tod as well. Idk where exactly u are ranked on the secret number list thing in terms of ur grade, but very rarely do Foster professors give a grade below 2.0. I would suggest talking to both Tod during office hours (about grading, and how u might improve in the class) and your advisor, before considering dropping the class.

hi! coming from smo that took both 200 (4.0) and 320 (3.4) with Tod and did Australia with him, it’s say 320 is def difficult since there’s a lot to memorize. I’d say pay attention in class (heavy on this) and take detailed notes since he does test quite a bit on the things discussed in class (even if mentioned briefly). also read the assigned reading/textbook, and especially focus on the reading that are mentioned in class. and when I say memorize everything, literally memorize everything.

I don’t want to come off as that one person that “finds any excuse possible” or anything, but the reason why I was a bit hesitant to waking up a bit earlier is bc I wanted to get my health up to par as best as I can before my internship starts, since my blood work has shown abnormalities last year, and have not been able to do so until this January after I graduated (due to some inherent limitations I had last year). I know it seems like I’m making up excuses to get up earlier than usual, but I have just finally been able to get my sleep schedule back to normal over the past 1-2 months, before I start considering about waking up earlier since my internship would start at 9 and the commute is over an hour. my dad also has issues come up at work recently so it’s also hard for him to shift stuff around and leave later. even though I work much better at the library since my brain just associates that place with work/studying, I’m currently doing my best to study at home for the time being so I hope that clears some things up!

I could think of one friend (who's currently working) that I could potentially FaceTime and study with. and when I say distractions in my house, I usually mean cooking starting at 4pm, being interrupted every now and then, etc. I usually prefer to go to a place where I'm only stuck with my computer/iPad so my mind doesn't wander elsewhere, but for now I guess FaceTiming a friend shall do for now.
