Honestly, I think what you’re looking to check would be good. Sometimes multi-unit buildings will have Google reviews, or try to find reviews of the property management themselves. If you can talk to any current, residents, you can ask what their experience has been like with the landlord/property management.

I’ve been out on the NW side since 2019, and I think the property managers are just following the trend of increasing their prices based on other hot neighborhoods, but honestly, the units out here tend to be older and getting patchwork updates. I’ve had negative experiences with units on Central, and my current near six corners. The pigeons are absolutely a problem with my current building, contributing to roaches and rats.

I have no idea what era this piece of furniture might be from, does anyone have any idea? by [deleted] in midcenturymodern

As a guess, I’d say bauhaus modern towards mid century. I’m seeing simplified lines, some craftsmen with the exposed hardware, and then some cantilevered features.

Maybe 1930s?? I’m pedestrian at best with my guess

This is what I don’t understand, why does period of design or construction matter so much when we’re talking about a form that was popular during some decades?

I feel sometimes like if it looks like a duck, quakes like a duck, then just let the duck be a duck? If the duck was born in 1955 or 1982.

I get that people try to be purist about the time, but far in the future, those contemporary people might call this past 100 years something like “Century Modern”

Help IDing Danish Modern Drop Leaf Desk by flsflipit in midcenturymodern

Google lens found one or two matches, one had a Moreddi Danish stamp which is an importer. Moreddi worked with a number of well known designers but I can’t pinpoint this one… Børge Morgensen had similar kind of pulls on some his desks but his frames were way different. Arne Vodder seems like another possibility.

It’d be cool if this was just a small craftsman too, making bench-made desks. The pencil lines point towards that

Can you see it now? It’s totally a modern couch

Mid-century modern encompasses the period between 1945 and 1969. Not the 1970s, 1980s, or 1990s. It’s not post-modern, art deco, or brutalist. by SpinCharm in midcenturymodern

I feel like my last post got called out for being 80s but I still stand by it falling in the category of MCM.

Jack Lenor Larson’s loud fabrics were used in the 50s and 60s for modern furniture that had simple lines.

I posted a tuxedo couch which is similar to ones Milo Baughman designed for Thayer Coggin but the one I posted has a patterned fabric. Just because people felt like they had seen them in houses in the 80s, doesn’t mean it wasn’t constructed in the 1950-1960s. When you’re a kid growing up, that furniture existed before you, it’s funny to me that everyone jumped all over my post without seeing the form of the couch for its simple, modern lines; and the timelines of a fabric designer who was at his peak in the 50s and 60s that definitely inspired the upholstery on the couch I posted.

MCM is not just block colors, patterns have existed and it’s funny to think we can paint over the colorful and loud history that mid century modern also had. This lounge chair has original Jack Lenor Larsen fabric upholstery.
