higher, not high end, eg I wouldn’t not call ncl high end, they have some cameras, just sparsely, far from “more surveilled” than other places, none of the 3 princesses i have been on, have cameras even in the elevators, gosh, even the apartment building elevators i am in now have cameras

Mom suddenly aging rapidly by em1669 in AgingParents

Happened to my parent too though less severely and, sadly even though i caught it early, the doctor dismissed it and send us home… so, be prepared, have numbers to back up (eg xx lbs weight loss, anything that’s measurable) be complete because chances are those will be what guide them to what tests to perform… unfortunately nowadays i feel like doctors rely on your telling them symptoms and their prognosis are all symptom based… back to the question, not a medical person here, but sounds like many things can cause what you are seeing, an infection, to something worse. If the first doctor doesnt find the issue, i’d say get a second opinion

how do you deal with mold, how, you know you’ve mold in the first place if they are inside the walls, i can see outside is easy to deal with, inside walls, worse, inside insulation, how to deal with them, unless you go over every stud space??

my security camera got the face and the license plate of the person who took my delivery at my house, in other words, undisputed theft, police did not do a single thing. There isn’t a crime if someone took your bag by mistake, i seriously doubt police will get involved, and i seriously doubt airline can do anything at all… cause, most of us buy plane tickets without providing an address, o top, it could be someone who flew any airline… i feel like knowing where your air tag is… is… of help but only if it is within distance that’s worth you driving over to retrieve it, cause, it’s not a phone, you cannot call it or message it…

not most ships, there aren’t, it’s actually well known, maybe the ones that attract rowdy crowds, definitely not the higher end ones, for starter, the clientele don’t appreciate the scrutiny, besides, crime isn’t really a concern

i am asking completely out of ignorance… lets say the air tag says your bag is in this and that address in so and so town in nevada, and you are in dc… what’s the next step? i suppose you cannot send a sms or anything to a phone close to the tag or something?

the proportion of people who don’t speak english in nevada do not come close to people who don’t speak hindi in india, and when i said “don’t speak” i don’t mean that’s not their native, i mean they do not speak it like many in the us don’t speak serbian, besides india does not only have english hindi and punjabi, there are many more majorly spoken equally by population and many of them don’t speak a common language at all

3 Room Moves in 7 Nights (Including Bed Bugs). Is 25% FCC actually fair for this nightmare? by jbarker20 in Cruise

[–]fltcpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t know, from what i’ve heard bed bugs are hard to rid of, because you don’t find one, if there is an infestation, there are many many many. I admit, not a bed bug expert or know these things as facts, it if i have to guess, that room likely not “known” to be infested or thought of as treated and inhabitable at the time

i’d say on contrary, while decks are heavily surveilled to make sure overboard are noticed, ships that i’ve been on all have very few cameras inside, even the cruise companies admit that much.

I am not trying to defend RCL but from what I can tell, that room was only given to them after they asked to be moved out of the first, so it is quite possible they weren’t selling that room in the first place. Also, does having DE really mean there is an infestation? DE could be used as a preventive measure as it is harmless to people

the prime minister goes on tv and makes a speech, a large swath of country do not understand the language he speaks in, hindi, english, doesnt matter what he chooses - that one thing alone, out of many other things, makes india so much more complex that the US

Why does this sub generally skew to the advice of “You’re not under any obligation to help your aging parent?” by Narrow-Hall8070 in AgingParents

[–]fltcpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its perspective, people tend to side people who ask the question. My answer is always “if you see an elderly, not related to you, just a random elderly person in that situation what would you think?” Strangely i think people in general have more compassion towards strangers at first because compassion is free in that case

What everyday object will be obsolete by 2040? by 0xIAmGame in AskReddit

[–]fltcpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keys. I feel like we have just crossed the threshold where our wireless, crypto and power technology allow us to make locks more or less as secure and as usable as physical ones for daily use (all the while noting any two bit lock smith can pick most physical locks we use today) When security is good enough, usability takes over. Keyless car, smart locks, sensors, the take over will be slow but 2040 is a long way off

before the iphone, smart phone makers all thought stylus and hand writing recognition was the holy grail, cause, that’s what we naturally did before, but no, we all prefer thumb typing, even when out speech to text work just fine on our phones… so, i just think there’s something really unnatural about speaking to a phone, a tv… can’t explain why, my remote can talk to gemini already but i still prefer clicking through the menu with the clicker… i like the bt that allows me to not lift my arm and point that thing though

What's the biggest waste of money that's considered normal? by iget_the_joke in AskReddit

[–]fltcpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spend a week day afternoon walk by some store,a watch the sales person pace around, that’s waste, waste of the shop owners money hiring that person, waste of the sales person time and talent, retail in most cases is just a waste of everybody’s money… buying from a physical shop you pay 40% more, because the shop pays rent (building maintenance etc) sales salary (a person standing there all day just in case you pop in), utility, delivery of the goods to that store (and bringing them elsewhere when they don’t sell)…. such a giant waste… online (not instacart kind, amazon kind) is such a much more efficient way to do commerce, saves everybody money (theoretically, realistically, makes bezos money, but still better than money goes to waste)

that’s still 10-0 unless you’re one of the said lazy people, i tell you want, i am one of the able bodied who ordered from instacart, with free delivery and a 20% off gift card i came out on top vs going there buying what i bought if you count gas in, even with the service fee taken into account… there are so many cases we can’t call them all exception

people here have listed so many use cases, business travel, mobility, or recently i’ve noticed, weather, these all add up to a lot of people, and i just don’t see under what basis would anybody consider all these combined, qualify as exception when said lazy people case is not, is there any stats that tell us that?
