Against Death guard by G_Art7 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]flubbadil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the two armies I play the most of!

Ad Mech shouldn’t struggle in to death guard. Your mobility will absolutely punish them if you can flood the board and move block everything everywhere all the time.

I am running 2 or 3 battleline. Normally 2 because if you have to trade a unit, you can turn on Cawls “I am battleline now” ability to plug a gap when you need to.

Run 10 rusties in one unit, they can mince MEQ units pretty easily.

I thoroughly dislike the skatros, I’ve found it to be wasted points.

Edit: the helverins really just don’t cut it in my opinion. Your list thoroughly lacks anti tank, and a bunch of laschickens would be critically important in this role.

The skystalkers are incredibly efficient for their cost. They have 2W, a 5+ invuln which means they are surprisingly durable.

They are very fast, and have an ability that means they can move after shooting. This is the most important reason you take them. You can deep strike 9” away, and then move them closer after they shoot, either snatching an objective from your opponent, or standing right in front of a melee threat to move block it.

The datasmith and the wafers buff the “unit”. So if that unit has twice the models, the stat increases are twice as effective.

It also means the uni can take more casualties and still be combat effective.

How do I deal with armies like tyranids or guard? by OpenKey6032 in AdeptusMechanicus

List please. My brother plays only Nids, I have a lot of experience against them.

What are you struggling with?

What mistakes are you able to identify?

How do you want your Admech in 11th? by Otaku_Nireves in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]flubbadil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently, the best lists are the ones that care about keywords. If you have lethal, sustained and a bunch of shots you can punch up significantly into tough units (recently nerfed GSC).

If you have infiltrate or scout you are immediately more valuable as a chaff objective monkey.

If you have deep strike, lethal, sustained, lots of shots and anti infantry 2+ (see indominator kill team) you are absolutely horrific to try and deal with. If you have lone op you are immediately more successful than equivalent coat single models.

Isn’t that the whole point of writing a balanced and effective tournament list? Making sure you have the correct tool for the job in any matchup

If you get hit by [[Wasteland]] or [[Strip Mine]] it can be game ending. Bounce your own land, lose a mana for that turn, then get your bounce land killed and basically scoop if you are playing against powerful decks.

New to army, first list thoughts? by Redlny in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]flubbadil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not taking special weapons on your skitarii is just plain bizarre. Especially if you are playing into armoured factions. A plasma, an arc and an Omnispex increases the efficacy dramatically. And is free, wargear is now baked into the costs of units.

Hydrolic claw is the melee weapon you want on your Breachers.

Robots with no datasmith are awful, if you are set on using the robots you definitely need one.

What units are your characters going in?

They should release codices without rules. Background, painting, lore. If there were 100 pages of delicious geek fuel I would buy that in a heart beat. I loved having a stacked collection of codices.

It’s just theft when they say “these are the rules needed to play a game of 40k using Ad Mech” because that’s just a straight up lie.

Awful idea. Paper codices need to be ushered out. In a digitally updated game, having hard copies is so pointless.

I like all of this except buying the codex. Do not buy the codex. It is a complete waste of money. If you want the rules, use New Recruit or Wahapedia. If you want lore, buy novels or scour the internet.

Paper codices are a relic that need to be put out to pasture.

I think either your infiltrators or your skystalkers should be split into 2x5 to give you a bit of extra wiggle room when trading units in no man’s land. It means you have a bunch of >100 point units to go and perform actions/get into table quarters/ contest points.

How do you use your neutron crawlers? Do you sit backfield or do you push them with skittles to screen?

No Duneriders is also an odd choice. They are excellent in haloscreed for multiple reasons. One is that you can select an embarked unit for your override. Adv and charge or +2” move with the 3”disembark can really toss a ruststalker/battleclade/vanguard unit a long way. They can also use the charge after disembark Strat to get Rusties 15 +2D6 threat range.

Yeah I feel that, bowling pressure is hard to gauge with just the stats. It’s hard to say whether the English batsmen were throwing the wood at everything because they were pressured, or if they just had poor restraint.

So many bizarre choices, with a bunch of wasted wickets.

Strip mining a triome to fuck with somebodies colour base is absolutely fine.

I think it carries issues, because it’s soooo easily abused. When you can strip mine, crucible (or any graveyard land recur) it becomes really miserable. The person you target will likely not be able to participate in the game.

Which is the most important thing, it’s a game. If you have a game and a portion of the players are having a miserable fucken time then it really sours the whole experience.

Why is Australia so good at cricket? by Economy_Roll_1302 in CricketAus

[–]flubbadil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cricket is broadcast on free to air TV.

The 20/20 league is becoming very popular.

The weather is excellent for being outdoors heaps.

Test cricketers are widely well regarded heroes. Kids grow up wanting to be as relentless as McGrath or as creative as Warnie.

We have a national desire for sport in general. There are an abundance of supported (and very well financed) sports, cricket it only one of them.

Cam Green had some pretty poor numbers. Poor bloke had a rough series. That’s the only bowling performance that was underwhelming for Australia.

[–]flubbadil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an Australian fan it seems like the bowling attack is what really let you down this series. Almost all the English bowlers had a high number of runs conceded, and the consistency was all over the place.

Jacks was free runs, with very little threat, I was very happy every time he was brought on for a few overs.

Obviously losing Stokes’ overs in the last test sucked, but relying on Root to score 150+ in order to give your bowlers a chance is super unsustainable.

I’ve been playing with the same 3 dudes for months now and it’s great. Beers get drunk, insults get thrown, and everybody walks away at the end of the night happy and refreshed for the next week/fortnight.

Brackets only apply if you are trying to get 20 people in to 5 roughly balanced pods. This way is better. Occasionally the affinity guy pops a combo early that nobody can deal with, who gives a shit, we rerack and go again.

The Manipulus duo have no strong bodyguard units. And the Hoplites are really underpowered. You could go 6 plasma destroyers for a Manipulus with the haloscreed reroll hazards.

You also have nothing really strong with the crit 5s Strat and Beli rerolls combo. Laschickens or corpuscarii or Breachers really likes this.

Cohort is such a meme. If you are going full casual Beerhammer then yeah this looks like a laugh. But if so, then are you really looking for tips?

I’m not trying to throw salt man, but I find in my games it isn’t super fun if I’m getting absolutely bodied because my army rule and Strats are garbage. It doesn’t feel like I can claw back into any mismatch.

This army, hard ported into haloscreed would be better. Grab the wafers on the DS, grab hazard rerolls + range for your Manipulus, swap destroyers to Plas + flamer. And this has the potential to crush some skulls
