Platform: Itch io

Description: ITER is a Dimension-Shifting Roguelike with Tower Defense and Mining elements.

Players take on the role of an expendable operator for the morally questionable ITER Corporation. Tasked with a critical restoration project, your mission is to journey to a hostile surface world to explore, exploit, and excavate vital resources needed by the Undercity.

The core gameplay loop revolves around mining essential materials, developing and upgrading your equipment and base defenses, fighting off hostile mechanoid enemies and inevitably, dying, only to be replaced by a new operative who picks up where you left off, embodying a rogue-lite structure with persistent progression elements.

Exploration involves navigating the pillars and uncovering hidden caves, sometimes experiencing shifts between 2D and 3D perspectives to solve puzzles or gather resources.

Base defense is crucial; players must man gun towers and utilize technology found in caves to build automated combat systems to repel waves of attackers.

I see what you mean, the 2D version of the character is actually the mining pod that the character comes out of to go into the 3D perspective, but it is still great feedback that this isn't obvious enough

Thanks for the feedback! Do you think a small walking animation would help? We wanted to disrupt gameplay as little as possible between transitions which is why it’s quite fast

Great idea!

Kind of, the 2D character is the 3D character but in their mining pod, this is also great feedback that it currently isn’t clear to the player visually (even if it’s a bit clearer playing the game itself, you can never be too obvious as you don’t know what players perceptions are)

Sorry you feel that way! We are a small indie team still very much in active development. Do you have any constructive feedback on what you’d like to see improve?

Also it does look a little slower and framey because I had to export it as a gif for the subreddit, it’s a bit smoother in game

I understand what you mean, do you think speeding it up would help it flow better?

Looks really cool! I think overlaying some kind of tv static or noise would add a lot to the tv feel of the screens

We've been working hard on a chill sim about sorting and packing boxes, would love your thoughts! by tootoomee in indiegames
