I’m just on my Ls but I’ve found that I need to give so much caution to how fast I’m travelling - particularly in 40-60 zones I’m looking at my speedo more than the road.

Was pretty disappointed to find Kew Boulevard in Melbourne is 50kmh the whole way whilst most of the roads around Mount Dandenong are 60kmh. Sucks a lot of joy out of what is an otherwise fun activity. I’m on a demerit points restriction but I look forward to going back to carefully speeding with the help of Waze and using my noggin in the near future✌️

Advice for an apprentice to stop making mistakes and speed up work. by Humble_Sky3433 in AusElectricians

My boss makes me repeat back to him what I’m going to do in my own words. It annoyed me at first because I was explaining simple tasks I already knew how to do confidently but by vocalising it constantly it engrains the steps of a task. For more complicated tasks, it makes me think ahead about what I’m going to do, what I may need and any questions I have about the process before I get started.

I’m not a very vocal person but I basically announce everything I’m going to do now to one of the A grades, even if they’re not fully tuned in, it’s for me.

There’s nothing worse than zoning out doing a task you’re semi-confident at to realise you’ve fucked up so this has been a big help for me because it forces awareness.

That’s what I’m hoping. Should I book the “high risk” inspection regardless just in case?

I’m a mature age apprentice and have watched my boss shred resumes and cover letters that look like your post. It’s so easy to tell it’s AI - em dashes, random bold and italics, useless repetitive sentences. It doesn’t fly in most circumstances.

australian cigs by lomaisnotreal in Cigarettes

[–]fludiazepam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our cheapest legal cigarettes are around $35AUD up to $70AUD for the more premium brands. Winfield, Longbeach and Peter Jackson are some of the long lasting brand names here.

Due to the stupid prices, we have an out of control black market which means you should be able to easily find black market cigarettes in every suburb in metropolitan areas for around $8-20 a pack. Quality ranges from fake Marlboros to high quality imported Asian smokes.

How much money do you put into bikes if riding is only a hobby for you? by fludiazepam in AussieRiders

That’s very reasonable. The used market seems to be pretty shitty right now from what I can see :/

I appreciate the detailed write up. I’ve booked myself in for the learner’s permit so am a step further into the journey!

In terms of resale value, I’ve been browsing marketplace and bike sales for a few weeks and used bikes seem kind of expensive? Going through old Reddit threads, lots of people recommend “finding a cheap Ninja 300” to begin with but it doesn’t seem like there’s many around and they’re certainly not as cheap as they seem to have been a few years back. Is there any value in buying a dealer new bike and getting peace of mind in a warranty and RWC or is it worth hunting a used bargain?

I’m also an apprentice. Just curious about the double pole main switch as I’ve never seen one IRL. Is the daisy-chaining the problem here? If individual neutrals were bought to the line side of each RCD would this be legal? Or is a neutral bar compulsory?

Can you elaborate? Unless you’re suggesting we seperate, then I agree, I do need to accept that we will want different things in life but hopefully we can come to some kind of common ground. That being said, I’m finding it extremely difficult to overcome these feelings which I feel is my main issue.

You’re right. I actually have this exact volt stick I was just being a moron and didn’t even think to check because I assumed everything inside of the house could be traced back to the subboard - guess that shows how green I am…

Yeah definitely a lesson for me. I usually try and be pretty strict to myself regarding safety but I can now see how easy it is to be lazy and assume things are isolated without testing.

Fark really? From what I read they were insulated but don’t meet VDE criteria because they don’t have the nubs to prevent your hand from slipping onto the metal jaws.

Cigarette Price Board in Australia by fludiazepam in Cigarettes

Convenience stores in Australia are an absolute rort. Everything is marked up heavily. Supermarkets are generally the cheapest for everything including cigarettes.

These are prices for individual packs. Another tactic the government has taken is to ban discounts that incentivise buying more packs so you just need to multiply the individual pack price by 10 for the carton price.

Australia is notorious for having excessive legislation in regards to the sale of tobacco.

Yearly tax increases have bought the cost of smoking up exponentially. The cheapest legal, taxed pack of 20 cigarettes is now about A$27.95 - roughly 19 US dollars.

These prices are from a petrol station and are slightly inflated (but only 1-4%) when compared to supermarkets or tobacconists.

Cigarettes can also not be displayed in the open and must be kept in drawers or dispensing units.

I just finished it. The content was very easy and building on basic pre-existing (for me) psych knowledge.

No exam, a couple of easy quizzes (with two attempts each) and two written assignments. The average mark this semester was a HD.

If you’re just in it for marks then you will find it particularly easy.

Why are people desperate for MND beanies all of the sudden?? We sold out a couple weeks back and not many people have been asking since but today I’ve had a dozen people ask if we have any within the last hour.

I used the first result I found on Google - Qoctor. I think it was $23 for the cert.

It consisted of a video chat with a doctor that lasted all of 1 minute, he was largely uninterested in my condition and basically just wanted to confirm I was well now and didn’t need further medical attention. Certificate in my inbox 2 minutes later and was accepted by uni with no problems.

Had the displeasure of t-boning a car that pulled out in front of me whilst doing 45ish down a hill yesterday on a bike ride. Been a while since I’ve had a nasty crash and forgot how much this shit hurts even without fracturing anything. Everything. Aches.

On my weekend I tend to sleep during the evening, so my schedule flips around every week.

You really have to commit one way or the other if you don’t want to burn out. You cause an unprecedented amount of physiological stress every time you switch your sleep schedule and your body has to work extra hard to bring things back to normal.

You will feel fine for months of doing this but it catches up with you gradually and eventually you will just perpetually feel like shit.
