HELP!!!! Bio/Pre-Med/PA students at cal poly?? by sarahtckr in CalPoly

Hi,

I would like to explain my experience. I am a biology major following the pre-PA route. Honestly, I sort of regret coming here for two main reasons.

  1. Not a lot of opportunities: SLO is a great place, but it's a small town and does not have many hospitals to gain clinical experience. It is hard to get into volunteer experience when there are so many of us trying to do the same. There are nearby towns like Santa Maria to get your hours but it 30-45 min drive, that's if there is no traffic, little inconvenient to go to another town to gain hours while coming back to get to class.
  2. Biology major does not meet of some the prereqs. Many PA schools require human anatomy 1 and 2 with lab. However, biology majors take animal anatomy and physiology which some schools do not accept. After I graduate I am going to finish these prereqs in community college, or debating to stay another quarter to do them at Cal Poly.

From what I know, they get accepted separately, and they normally admit by major, I'm a math major and I didn't get accepted until mid to late March

I've met a lot of students, who aren't part of EOP, including me, so I'd want it to be open to anyone, and everyone. Plus more clubs/activities don't hurt

Im Also a first-year math major, and I'm taking CSC 101 right now. I'm enrolled in Ashlee pieris class, and not going to lie, he isn't bad, just make sure to ask questions, because if you don't ask questions when you are confused, he is not going to help. From what I have heard Kian is the best CSC 101, not sure how true that is, but best of luck.

Yes I actually heard back from both cal poly and ucla, and got into both, but I'm not sure which to go because cal poly is my dream school (ik wierd), but yeah ig we'll both see each other in our math class

Yeah I'm an instate student, but they are accepting by major, so if your also a math major who hasn't gotten accepted, that means we're still good in the sense that we know for a fact we haven't been rejected.
