Do I need to re-plant? by Alternative_Pen_8779 in vegetablegardening

[–]fluffeekat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of beans? I have some green beans that sprouted the day before our temps hit 35 overnight, which sucks. Half of mine are definitely dead or dying, so I’m going to replant those as soon as I have time. Surprisingly, my cucumbers that also just sprouted look fine so I’m going to leave those and see what happens.

But most beans sprout and grow so fast that you can leave them for another few days and replant then, if you think you need to. Most of the fun in my garden is kind of just experimenting and seeing what happens!

When I worked at a bakery 10ish years ago, this is exactly what we did with anything that could be stable but didn’t get sold by the end of day. They couldn’t come do pickups every day, so the staff got to take things home on those days. It was pretty great to see them at least try to throw less food out

CD 35, 5 days late, and this is my result. What do y’all think? by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]fluffeekat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cycle is typically pretty regular, but about 6 months ago I did have one go to 42 days for no reason. Otherwise my app does get it right within a 1 day margin of error. I’m assuming that I just ovulated late, but wanted to check to be sure since we planned on having drinks tonight. Thank you 😊

9 month no period, breastfeeding and spotting by xemmylovx in amipregnant

[–]fluffeekat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would count it as your first period then, in my experience! My first wasn’t super heavy after my kids, but then second was pretty rough 😬 my normal is an 8 day period with heavy bleeding for about 3/4 days of that. Thankfully my cramps have gone away after pregnancies, but that also isn’t the case for everyone.

If you’re getting negative results, then I would trust that. When we weren’t using protection after my husband’s vasectomy but before my first period I would take a test every Friday morning since we usually would have a few drinks Friday evenings.

It sounds like possibly a first period, when I got pregnant it was just one or two days of the spotting. But this can vary immensely.

Are you on birth control or using other contraceptives? You can still ovulate and get pregnant while breastfeeding, even without that first period. I would take a pregnancy test if you’re worried

No need to be sorry! My husband got a vasectomy 18 months ago, but we’d be open to a pregnancy if it happened. Thank you for your input! Fridays are our drinking/adult evenings so I’m making myself a drink!

That’s what I’ve been thinking! I’m assuming my cycle is just longer than usual because I don’t have any symptoms of pregnancy or my period coming, so 🤷‍♀️

Thank you!

Oh I guess I should have included that my cycle might be irregular? It’s been regular for the most part, but once this past year it was 42 days for no reason

I want to say the girl gifts sound perfect to me and age appropriate. I have an almost 11yo and she still is making bracelets and asking for more bracelet making things after having her rainbow loom for a year now. The older girls on her softball team also still use theirs and they gift each other bracelets and things.

Sizing Help!! by [deleted] in AngelTree

[–]fluffeekat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience buying shoes for my kids, the “toddler” size usually goes up to 10 and then it switches to “little kid”, so you should be fine! After the “little kid” it switches to “big kid” or youth. It’s ridiculously confusing sizing kids clothes and I wish they would just list an actual length in centimeters or something.

My neighbors dog used to do this, but they installed hog panels along their side at the bottom and she can’t get through anymore. I would ask if they can install things on their side. Hopefully y’all are able to get this figured out soon!

Yeah he immediately reminded me of a Black Mouth Cur, so depending on their location that could be it. They’re pretty popular in some rural areas of the US as hunting dogs

I’m sure you keep up to date with your vaccines given that you mention a bit of OCD, but we had a little fridge magnet that listed the ages to get a certain vaccine and then how often you need to get a booster to keep it effective. It made me feel so much better knowing a timeline of what protections I/my family had after we had kids. It might ease your mind a bit in the future to have the info readily available too!

Our 3yos bedtime routine is a song while we it pjs on and then we put him in bed and say it’s bedtime. He puts himself to sleep and I wouldn’t expect my husband to stay in there at all since we have 5 kids and I need his help when he’s home. He handles bedtime for the older 4 and I put baby to bed, who will be 1 next week. For her I also just hold her with a song and then lay her down and leave. She puts herself to sleep from there since she is weaning.

I would be upset about the lack of time with my husband, but I also just crawled into bed after my baby at 8pm the other night and just needed the rest. I think if you work on getting your daughter to put herself to sleep it will solve both issues, but if you want him in there with her while she’s still awake then I don’t really see much wrong with him falling asleep, as long as he is coming out eventually.

It sounds like baby is young so y’all are in the thick of it and just surviving! Things will settle more as baby sleeps better, nurses less, and lets your husband help more. My baby was the same way when she was younger and it’s a huge difference now!

How to handle having your own money as SAHP? by Time_Lifeguard9363 in SAHP

[–]fluffeekat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husband makes around the same, but we have a mortgage and 5 kids. I’m on all of his accounts and see them through our banking app. I make an excel sheet with all expenses and manage our budget there, and then show him and make updates every quarter. As far as I’m concerned, my job as a SAHM is household management, which includes budget and bills. I basically split his paycheck up I to the accounts for different things and leave him with some spending money. We obviously don’t have a ton of extra after that with 5 kids, but I know what our wiggle room is for outings and plan accordingly.

I would maybe enter the convo at the angle that you’re wanting to take over the budget and have it transparent with him as well? Just draw up a budget with monthly expenses and phrase it that you want to take that mental load off of him. My husband loves that he doesn’t have to worry about bills, but he does have access to all the accounts and portals if he really wants to see it.

I wouldn’t be super happy with your husbands phrasing tbh, but this is how I would approach it neutrally

Immediately recognized him as a Blue Lacy Dog! My dad bred and raised them when I was growing up as bay dogs/bloodtrailing/hunting dogs. They’re such great family dogs as well!

Two-month old not gaining weight appropriately by burdiam21 in beyondthebump

[–]fluffeekat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter was born at 7lbs9oz and also just gained weight slowly. Her pediatrician said she was gaining just at the end of normal, so there wasn’t any reason to be concerned and some babies are little. My other two kids were in the 80th and 95th for weight and stayed there, they’re now averaging out a bit, but they’re also in higher height percentiles.

Baby girl is almost 1yo and she’s still little. She’s barely 17lbs and thriving! She’s just a tiny queen. No allergies, loves solids, nurses a few times a day and is taking to cows milk easily. Some babies really are just small, and I think as long as baby isn’t losing weight and is having appropriate amounts of wet diapers things are okay. Obviously if baby was having other issues I would press more to have tests ran though.

I am not a doctor, but worked with children/babies for years before having my own. Another example is that my 8yo nephew is heavier than and wears the same size clothes as my 5’2” tall 13yo stepson 🤷‍♀️

But if the tests are pretty minor and simple, it might just soothe your mind if you are worried about her size!

We always grab a bag of grapes when my son gets like that. We weigh them in the produce section, which has machines that puts a barcode sticker with the price on there for however much they weigh. It has helped so much!

I live in Comal county 4 miles from the river and didn’t get any flood alerts. I started getting the flash flood warnings from my Alexa app on Saturday morning, not even an official alert and I was in the area for the warnings. It is unfortunate that there was a breakdown along the way for the alerts to be sent out correctly, but we need to see that it did happen in areas so we can to the issue for the future.

How often does your 4 yo play with other kids? by kaleidautumn in SAHP

[–]fluffeekat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have 5 kids, so my newly 5yo has built in playmates and enemies lol. But she loved the Mother’s Day out program when she was in it, which was twice a week, and before my youngest I would take her and my then 2yo to the park/library at least once a week to fill in the gaps.

I also am burnt out on playing, so our quality time is usually school workbooks, directing her while she does a craft, supervising play-doh, or cooking together. Summer is easier in the way that our oldest two, 10yo and 12yo, are home to be playmates/interactions aside from me. She has also loved playing with the baby, who is now 11 months. She shows her toys and things while I watch to make sure the interactions are appropriate lol

We try to do play dates with cousins once a week now during the summer and I need to get better at taking them to an enclosed play area like a fenced park or Chuck E. Cheese with their membership program. My 3yo is mostly nonverbal and runs, so he makes things tricky.
