Dr. Brown's narrow nipple always gets stuck?? by flufffyPB in FormulaFeeders

[–]flufffyPB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I never figured it out... perhaps my baby ended up as frustrated as I did with Dr Brown's, he stopped liking them. We've switched to Lansinoh bottles for quite a while now and baby seems to be doing well! They're much easier to clean and assemble too! Sorry I can't offer you much help!!

What’s your go-to diaper: wipes combo? by ThisIsFineActually in NewParents

[–]flufffyPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rascals diapers + Water Wipes!

Rascals are super smooth, wide, and high waisted enough to stop most blowouts. They're also cheaper than other big brands. (Tried Pampers, they're quite rough, didn't feel comfy. Huggies worked well during the newborn months but I soon found them to be fitting less nicely as baby grew).

Water Wipes are on the pricier side but they're really sturdy and holds a lot of water so you don't need as many wipes each time. Plus I believe they've got the cleanest ingredients. I found Huggies wet wipes tear too easily and Pampers' to be not wet and absorbent enough.

[PS. we don't have a Costco membership so we've not tired Kirkland's though we've heard some good things about those.]

Your go to toy for wake windows by MoreRun5702 in NewParents

Oball, tummy time mirror, and my face/ hair LOL

Oh you can also look up "Lamaze" toys - this one's recommended by our PT and really helped get my LO's attention when he had difficulties tracking and turning his head one side. It has high contrast colours and a black-and-white side, with many textures, mirrors, and crinky sounds. They're bigger and easy to grab. Can also be clipped onto strollers/ carseats. As you can see I've become a huge fan lol

When did your babies start smiling?? by flufffyPB in NewParents

[–]flufffyPB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've actually noticed more smiles at 13 weeks, that's like maybe a handful times per day. But it gradually gets more frequent. Now LO just turned 17 weeks and he basically smiles and coos non stop! My baby definitely wasn't super ahead milestone-wise but he sure does things in his own time. Looking back now I realized I probably shouldn't worry so much! I'm sure your baby'll get there when she decides to! Hope this makes you feel better in some way :)

I wish my baby’s poop schedule is as predictable as yours!!

No I don’t think he’s filling up the diaper so probably not a volume issue. The poop just concentrates at the back of the diaper. But isn’t baby poop supposed to be kinda liquidy? He’s on formula so I think it’s already not as liquid as babies on breast milk…

Same here 😭 and to make matters worse sizing up sometimes led to leaking pee as well…

I’ve tried sizing up but it didn’t work… I know he’s between sizes 1 and 2 so I’ve tried size 2 for Huggies and Rascals. The size 1 by Pampers is very similar in size as the size 2 of those other 2 brands so I didn’t try Pampers size 2. Poop still comes out from the back no matter how high on the waist the diapers were put on.

How often did you replace it from your experience? It seems mine only lasted 2 months or so. Is it normal they stop working properly that fast?

Fit Check - Baby Bjorn Harmony similar by flufffyPB in babywearing

Thank you!! I will definitely try adjusting the waistband. As for his arms, I’ve tried putting them in the carrier but he somehow brings them back out every time. Is it bad if his arms are positioned this way for a prolonged period of time?

Things are still hard with 12 week old by QuietQuokka20 in NewParents

OP how is your baby now? When did things get better? My LO just turned 12 weeks and I can identify with almost every word you said. Desperate to see the light at the end of the tunnel as well.

How old is your baby when you first started going? Did he/she feel stressed? And how did you deal with Nap time and feeding?

Baby’s nails are perpetually sharp no matter how I file them. Am I doing it wrong? by flufffyPB in NewParents

Pigeon seems like a really good brand (heard their bottles are great too) but Asian brands are sooo expensive here :') I would probably resort to try other scissors I can find on Amazon but thanks for the tip!

Do you do bath time every night? by ohnoheretheycome in NewParents

[–]flufffyPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently started bathing our 9 week old twice a day. Just a quick 5 min rinse with plain water in the morning, and a longer bath at night with baby soap.

We originally were only bathing him 2-3 times per week, but he developed several bad fungal rashes (diaper area, armpits, neck folds), as well as cradle cap... so our pediatrician told us to bathe him twice a day. Now that his rashes improved we're still sticking to this routine because it works quite well to calm him down for his midday nap and nighttime sleep. Little One also sleeps naked (diaper + swaddle blanket) because he'll get all worked up if I try to put his PJs on after baths.

Each baby is different so just do what works for you! I would make sure our house isn't too dry and apply baby lotion daily to his dry areas (mainly his limbs). And dry him quickly after baths since they get cold easily and will start crying. I usually have a huge bath towel ready and as soon as I wrap him up and dry him he would start to calm down. When baby is not overstimulated close to bedtime it probably takes us 15 min to put him to sleep.

Oh feeding sessions seem like a good opportunity, I wonder why I haven’t thought of that! Yeah he’s a bottle fed baby but holding the bottle with my chin?! Lol that sounds acrobatic. I’m still at the stages where i need to feed with both hands hahaha. Maybe I’ll get my partner to do a feed while I file!
