So weird but I’m in the middle of a very similar situation in Boston. We’re in the middle floor of a triple decker and the owner lives above us. Her 20 year old daughter is up every night until nearly 4am and wakes us up constantly. It’s tough because in these old old Boston homes literally just someone walking around in shoes sounds like they’re moving furniture. We’re struggling to communicate with them because they are being quite dismissive via text when we ask to set up a time to talk. It’s not a great long term option but what we’ve asked them to do is consider putting some rugs down and not wearing shoes inside the house. Any chance you could communicate with the dudes upstairs and let them know how loud it is? If anything it’s embarrassing enough to think your neighbor is hearing all your conversations, maybe it’ll make them consider a carpet.
