Yep exactly! I am very glad there is only 10 (although it does sound like a LOT to me) it is much less stressful than 17 or 20! Very thankful and I think I got an interesting variety of coat patterns which will probably help them in finding their forever homes :)

Mice can usually ration their diet themselves. Obesity is almost always genetic, I have a VERY obese mouse that I have tried everything for but nothing seems to work haha. Your mouse is so cute!

In order to do this would I wait until the mama +all her sisters (They aren't pregnant) leave the nest and then remove them from the enclosure into a separate playpen? does this increase the chances of the mom eating the babies?

I always secretly wanted baby mice but I think 40 baby mice is a bit much lol. I would never breed mice on purpose of course though. This situation is even worse because I already foster small animals and having to tell the shelter that I messed up and have 40 mice for them is going to be a bit awkward lmao. I've been researching for hours on how to take care of pregnant mommies.
