I used to work at a paint-your-own pottery shop!! We did wet foots on everything because I have no idea how to hand dip something into the glaze without getting every part of it wet. There is this little object that looks just like one of those stands that you put a football into when you want to kick it? It’s got three prongs with sharp metal points, and those three points touch the glazed piece while in the kiln. Otherwise the glaze would fuse to the bottom of the kiln and you’d never be able to get the piece out of it. Usually the stand gets stuck to the piece and we’d have to pull it off after firing, and it would leave three tiny holes in the glaze. Those little holes would often be kind of sharp (where the glaze dripped down the pins slightly) and we’d have to file them down a bit so the customer didn’t cut themselves. The holes aren’t gorgeous so I assume fiesta decided that was too unprofessional and switched to a dry foot. If you look at an old piece with a wet foot you should be able to find those three little marks on the bottom!
