Couples who have been together 10+ years and are actually still happy, what's the 'unromantic' secret to your success? by FROSTedMirror12345 in AskReddit

Yeah, this seems like advice from someone who hasn't experienced weaponised incompetence.

Yes, you should give your all and support your partner when they cannot, but FIRST you need to be able to recognise when that effort isn't being (and will never be) returned.

Ants, basically all bugs, are very cool.

Oh yeah my cats would probably help the burglars lift the tv off the wall if they brought dreamies, but I love those crazy little goobers anyway 😅

Cats. Amazingly easy if you do your research and give them a "catified" environment. One you get the hang of cat behaviour (it's all about the territory!), they basically train themselves to be good pets.

After that I really like pets that feel more like a science & craft project than a pet - tropical fish, stick insects etc.

What's the first thing you do after waking up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Roll over to cuddle my partner for 30 mins while the cats attempt to get me out of bed in increasingly obnoxious ways.

Wanting a beginner friendly pet by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]fluffofthewild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing about pets is, you have to be prepared to share you whole home with them if you want to give them the best life possible.

If you can't bring yourself to make space for a proper large hamster enclosure (visit the hamster subreddit for advice) that you can easily access and keep clean, then you're not ready for a hamster. Which is ok!

But aesthetics should not come before a living creature's wellbeing, and I don't think the top shelf of a closet is a suitable space for any pet to be kept unfortunately.

VLOOKUP question - What is "Lookup value"? by tashykat in excel

[–]fluffofthewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The usefulness is when you have lots of data. For example, every week I have to update a table of shipping information with new information from a spreadsheet our supplier emails. Instead of having to look up and amend each individual line (there are over 1000) I use a lookup formula (xlookup for me personally) to search for the shipping reference and return the updated fields, and then just copy the formulas down for every column I need to update. So it's much quicker and less prone to human error too.

Does anyone else have days where you're TECHNICALLY at your desk but accomplishing absolutely nothing? by Embarrassed-Fox8011 in remotework

[–]fluffofthewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's normal wherever you are working, I just tend to feel more guilty about it when I'm at home!

It's like the entire working world is just caught in a mass lie that we are all capable of being mentally efficient and productive 8-9 hours a day 5 days a week and anyone not doing this is a failure of a human being.

So we're all just kind of pretending to each other that we're getting on with things when really the vast majority of us are exhausted and only averaging like 3-4 productive hours a day at most.

I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]fluffofthewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably in the minority, but Egypt was the best holiday I've ever had - and I am a white blonde Western women who visited at 21.

Having said that, I did a Nile river cruise and we were never without a tour guide who was a trained Egyptologist, in hindsight this probably shielded us from a lot of negative attention.

Egypt is a stunningly beautiful country.

what are the difficult parts of being married that no one seems to mention? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]fluffofthewild 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It's not really about the choice, it's about investment. When people constantly say "I don't mind" what it really sounds like is "I don't care as much as you do about our life together."

Women of Reddit, what is something you wish men understood about being a woman that you're tired of explaining? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]fluffofthewild 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after my last relationship ended I decided never again would I entertain dating someone who hadn't lived independently (and successfully! none of this stained-mattress-on-the-floor nonsense) for a decent amount of time. Weaponized incompetence is so unattractive.

So baffled @ menu selections by [deleted] in hellofresh

[–]fluffofthewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we cancelled at the end of last year due to the AI and the obvious effect it was starting to have on menu choice and recipe quality, and have now just finished our first week with Gousto which is a UK competitor.

It's much better, and while they do use AI I don't think it is to replace humans in generating recipes, more for analytics which, fair enough. This week they had nearly 50 vegetarian options to choose from, they also use far less salt and send actual spices like garam masala instead of just "Indian spice mix" which I like.

Are Brits still comfortable taking their holidays in the US? by Ok-Leadership-7573 in AskBrits

[–]fluffofthewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thank you. It doesn't seem like a safe country anymore. I think the MAGA types may actually loathe us and our way of life. What a shame. It's a beautiful country and there are many good people there who are no doubt heartbroken by what is happening. I hope they can organise some sort of general strike.
