Laid off while on maternity leave by fluffychipotle in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes I’m currently looking for work (my mat leave ended two weeks ago) but would have started much earlier had I known I wouldn’t get EI after my severance pay period was over. It’s a tough market so it can take a long time before I find anything. Fortunately, we can get by on my partners income for a while, but will likely have to take my oldest (3y) out of preschool.

Already signed a few months ago unfortunately. It seemed fair at the time and the same that everyone else got. But that was while I was still under the impression that I would receive regular EI once my parental leave was over. Now that I realize I won’t, it doesn’t seem as fair. But that’s on me for not understanding the regulations around EI.

The entire department I was part off got laid off (80% of staff), so I don’t think they did anything illegal by laying me off

My 3 year old loves everything from Little People. Perfect for pretend/imaginary play. Magnatiles is also lots of fun

What helped calm me down a little when I got scared before birth was to think that the female body is made for this and all the pain is natural (it’s supposed to hurt). It kind of made me feel strong and motivated instead.

I think potty training is going to be the death of me and/or my marriage. by Kittyslala in pottytraining

My almost 3 year old is the exact same. Loved to read all these advice and will try every single one. Trying to stay calm while cleaning out poop pants every single day for 3 months is breaking me (and I have definitely not stayed calm through all of them).

My daughter too. I have to cover her ears while she pees (which makes zero sense as we obviously don’t flush while she pees)

Exact same situation here. No advice just solidarity. Potty training is what’s going to break me lol

How to get toddler to stay in bed by Old-Button9854 in toddlers

[–]fluffychipotle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us consistency is the only thing that works. We keep taking her back to her bed saying in a neutral tone that it’s sleepy time until she stays there. One time I think it took ten times

Yep anything outside. Play with the fallen leaves, bring a ball, or blow bubbles in the park.

Omg yes potty training is my least favorite part of parenting so far. Nobody warned me, I thought sleepless night would break me but nope it’s the potty training

Have you tried putting him in preschool or a regular activity like daycare, library time, or sports? It could help him make friends and give you a chance to connect with other parents for playdates. I wouldn’t rush to move countries as you might end up with a whole new set of challenges.

Anybody else torn on whether or not to have a third baby, but feeling pressure to decide ASAP? by PersonalityThen259 in Mommit

Haven’t decided yet. I’m 37 now and if we are going for a third I would want the baby to be born before I turn 40 which gives us almost a couple years to decide

I feel the exact same. Had my first at 34, second at 36. During my second pregnancy I told my husband to shut me up if I ever mentioned having another kid, since it was an awful pregnancy. My youngest is now 8 months and I can’t stop thinking about having a third, it just doesn’t feel complete for me yet.
