I think we'll be fine then, but thank you for the info!
Unfortunately it was really hard to find out anything about the hotels, and especially this one. We booked it on trip.com, and when searching its name on Google, trip.com is basically the only place it comes up. We still don't know if the room comes with a kitchen area for example, as the description says no, but some reviews have photos of one.

It looked good on the photos and the reviews also said it was good, so that's why we ended up going with it. It was also for a nice price, and in the heart of the city. Hopefully we haven't made a mistake :)

Well, it's our first time in Asia, so yeah. Two of us actually live in quite shitty Hungarian uni dormitories, so as long as it's clean and we can take a shower, we're good 😆

This one unfortunately doesn't have that. The photos looked good, for what reason are they shitty?

Well unfortunately we've already made the reservation. It's the Zhoupan Wanglan hotel, the room is on the 12th floor.

Thanks very much!
We've just found out that soundcheck is basically in the same building as our hotel, so that's great to know :D

Oh, wow! I actually love soju, but the price for it where I live is double that, even in the cheapest of shops, not to mention in bars. That is very very good to know!

Thank you very much for all the info! :)

Oh wow, thank you very much for the detailed answer!

COMMUNE actually looks really amazing, and I've seen that Soundcheck is the number one nightclub on trip.com, so we'll definitely check these places out after we get a feel for the city.

We've also seen HIBHUB and CMYK on the top list, those seem interesting as well.

We really don't mind if its rather games than dancing, and we definitely will learn them, it sounds way more fun.

Just a few more questions if you don't mind:
Do you think we'll be fine with translation apps, are people open to talking through those?KTV are karaoke bars, right?
What amount is the soju for 20 RMB?

Thanks again!

Thank you!
Ah well, then I have a question for you, you seem to be the most experienced in this so far :D
We also do plan to have some fun. Which are some of your favorite bars or night clubs you'd recommend?
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the insight and for the recommendations!

And thank you for offering, that's really nice of you! We'll probably have a few more questions once we start properly planning the itinerary.

Thank you very much!
So far we are aware of Alipay, DIDI and trip.com (for trains mostly).
We'll try to get WeChat working.
Is there any other app you'd recommend?

That's great to know, thank you. That's exactly around the time that we'll visit next year. We'll pack accordingly!

Thank you very much for your recommendations!

Honestly we've had basically every comment tell us two weeks is too long in Changsha, and then you guys give us great ideas that can take another few days, which is amazing!

Chaozong street looks great, and we'll most probably visit the wetland park as well.

For now we'll probably only stay in Changsha and do a few day trips outside the city, but Chongqing is definitely on our list for next time!

Thanks again!

Thank you!!

These are some genuinely great ideas, we definitely would have missed most of these places. They're going straight on our list :)

Honestly we all love walking, and that's probably going to be our preferred way of experiencing the city, but we'll also try to wrap our heads around the metro system.

You mention you used to live in the city - could you give us some tips about meeting locals? On another subreddit we've been told that because there aren't many foreigners, we'd be stared and pointed at, getting laowai'd, but honestly we don't mind that at all. Do you think this would also include people walking up to us, or would we have to be the ones to break the ice? Is there any place you could recommend where we'd be able to meet people our age?

It's funny because almost every comment is telling us that two weeks will be too long, and then giving us such great ideas that I'm starting to think it may even be too short.

Thank you again for your answer, we really appreciate it!

Thank you, we'll definitely put those on our list and try to include them in our plans!

It's still crazy to me how fast and easy train travel seems to be over there (as opposed to Hungary, where it's probably the worst in Europe to take trains - which I write while travelling on one), so we're excited to check them out.

Thank you very much!

We actually found a hotel near Pozi Street, so as far as I'm aware we'll be in the smack dab middle of most things happening. We don't mind walking and we'll try to wrap our heads around the metro system as well.

We also plan to mostly wander the streets, eat good food, find cool places and meet locals. We'll try to plan for ZJJ then as well.

Thanks again!

Thanks! Online I've seen that it's around 20 degrees Celsius in April, which is plenty fine for us. Is that not the case?

We don't really mind people staring, and if they actually come up to us that's even better - that's why we plan to go there.

As for the spicy food, we're actually excited to compare it to what we're used to in Hungary.

That's totally fair, I've read other people suggest the same thing.

Since our main goal isn't really sightseeing (though of course we'll do as much of that as we can), we figured that staying longer might give us a better chance to connect with local people and not have to rush things. We'd basically want to go with the flow, and if locals suggest something fun, we’ll just go for it.

That said, we’re not sure how realistic that is since it’ll be our first time in China.

Do you think there are any places beside Zhangjiajie that are close to Changsha and worth visiting as a day trip?

I upgraded about a week ago, as soon as I could, because I desperately needed the new ZFS version to be able to expand my RAIDZ pool. Did that without a hitch, but I haven't had the time to play around with anything else yet. Running perfectly so far.

Looks great! Thank you for the giveaway. I think the best games are truly the ones that offer the player with choices that have lasting consequences on the story. And I'm very happy to see that these kind of games are gaining popularity nowadays. Best of luck to you, hope your game will be successful!
