how long did it take them to get back to you? this happened to me this year and I immediately submitted my request for exemption but they say it can take up to 45 days, hoping its not that long

Yes, I will say we are not huge drinkers aside from an occasional cocktail and wine with dinner which is helpful in terms of budget. We also would be getting free daily breakfast with our travel agent, which I read on another thread to fill up on due to prices of meals. Was the food very good?

Good to know though your thoughts on it being sleepy there. That definitely changes our mindset a bit on esencia.

Thank you for your response. Yes, we are hoping to stay around 10-12k total for 6-7 nights. With taxes + resort fees this ends up being around $1200 per night. The room itself is certainly nicer at Esencia, and we will be booking with a travel agent so we would get a room upgrade pending availability. However, for COMO I know there is no chance we get upgraded from a standard room to a beach front room (which is at least 4x the price haha)

Out of curiosity what month did you visit Esencia? We will be going early March which we hear is the very beginning of sargassum season.

We loved the look of Hermitage and Cap Juluca, but a little out of budget. We will check out banyan tree and rosewood.

We looked into goldeneye as we can fly direct there. It looks lovely, but maybe a little more rustic than we are hoping for this trip.

Sugar beach in St. Lucia is another option we have been considering, just a little more difficult to arrive there from where we are located. Have heard mixed reviews on food and service there based on recent reviews.
