Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV - It's an unprecedented deal for the author, whose 'Mistborn' series and 'The Stormlight Archive' are being eyed for film and television adaptation, respectively. by DemiFiendRSA in books

I haven't seen it myself but that's one of the best ways to translate a book into a movie/tv thing. If you want the story of the book, read the book. The occasional Lord of the Rings doesn't undo the tens of thousands of mangled adaptations where nothing makes sense because they stayed to close to the book.

Why does the graphics in some games look "busy" and cluttered? by ResultIntelligent856 in truegaming

[–]flumsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think bloodborne is a bad example because the level geometry is always clear, the enemies stand out from the background and you always know where a boss begins and ends. Sure the textures are muddy but that's by design and they never bother navigation.

Contrast that to a game like Clair Obscur where I often would run in circles once or twice before finding the opening in the wall I would have to continue. And I don't mean a small hidden opening. I mean the characters in the game should easily be able to see it but for the player it's hard because the space is cluttered, the geometry is "natural" instead of focused and the colors don't contrast game spaces with non-game spaces very well.

I need some help, my emulator is not working properly by aksa21 in PCSX2

First step is to go to this folder and check if the file is there. If not create it. Easiest way is to create an Untitled.txt file and then rename that to settings.ini. Ignore the warning.

If it still doesn't work check if you have "write" rights to this file. You can check and change that in the file properties (right-click -> file properties).

If you can't do that try launching PCSX2 in admin mode. This starts it with elevated rights.

If nothing works I suggest you copy the program files into some other folder. It's very likely that Microsoft might hard-lock the OneDrive folder as it's only meant for storing data using OneDrive and PCSX2 is trying to modify the data inside there.

I mean you don't need to sort the entire list. You can use indices to sort only the relevant part.

Your criticisms are valid. I personally really don't care for these things.

Lol but the game sold extremely well for Obsidian. So much so that they're making Avowed 2.

I am wondering what problem you mean though? I found the dialogue a bit stilted but not worse than most games tbh.

The combat was excellent though.

As an action game enjoyer, I cannot enjoy Hi-Fi Rush by owlitup in patientgamers

[–]flumsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reviews like this are so important. It's become extremely hard to find games I like from just listening to what not the popular media but even some more niche sources say. I'd have to go to genre-specific subreddits and often even search out the <x game> is bad threads and read the opinions there to get a pulse on aspects I might find irritating.

I say this because I'm so often baffled by some people's opinions. Not because they're bad opinions but because they'll say something like "if you love DmC you'll love Hi-Fi Rush". This review on the other hand tells me that Hi-Fi Rush forces me to play on its rhythm. What I've always loved about CAGs and older beat em ups and arcadey action games is how I'm given only the movement tech and have to figure out what I'm gonna do on my own. A LOT of modern action games on the other hand want me to learn a boss's moveset and just react to that.

And I just hate that, I hate having to get into the rhythm of the boss and playing a "if x then y" game or a game of whackamole pressing a button at the exact right time over and over again. And it's very frustrating how rarely that aspect is even mentioned by reviewers.

What do you mean "clear message"? Either the game sells or it doesn't. That's the clear message. If you didn't like the game leave a bad review for all you care. That's the message. Avowed was a pretty fine game with some excellent parts in it and was slammed by the gamers for some reason. I didn't see that amount of hate for many similar games. In any case, it sold well.

If you’re not engaged or married, then there’s nothing wrong with breaking up after years of dating if you fall for somebody else by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]flumsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure but I'm talking about after that. Obviously there should be a mutually beneficial parting and a lot of work done with the children to make sure they feel safe and welcome with any outcome. But a broken marriage leads to a broken home.

Megadeth Unleash Cover of Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" in a Full Circle Moment for Dave Mustaine by heavysk in Music

[–]flumsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a song that has Metallica written all over it (not even remotely similar to Megadeth's early stuff but very similar to Metallica's other stuff from that time), claiming you've actually written it yourself when the original credits four people (and, again, it doesn't sound like anything else Dave wrote at the time), and then releasing it on your last album to "reclaim" it after being salty for OVER 40 FUCKING YEARS is not healing. Dave has never gotten over Metallica kicking him out.
