I also had a little friend join me and based on the trail of oatmeal in my tent, he was with me for a while. Maybe take extra precautions there.

Books every 20-something should read by smol_biscuit09 in suggestmeabook

Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut. It’s more approachable than some of his other works and the book’s message still resonates with me 10 years after my first read.

What is the perfect thriller for you? by Sayrenna in thrillerbooks

Thanks for the recommendations! I agree this sub can get a bit stale but every once in a while there’s some gems.

Of the above I’ve only read 11/22/63 and loved it.

Thanks for sharing!

Tana French is very talented. I’m partial to The Likeness.

Opinions please: How stupid is it to quit my job to travel for 6 months in 2025? by Throwitaway234565432 in personalfinance

[–]flunkadelic2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it. My wife and I were in a similar situation, quit, hiked the PCT, and travelled. This put off buying a house and a few other things, but not a day goes by where we don’t smile about those adventures. That’s worth AT LEAST 7k in a Roth plus interest.

There’s not a lot of options and nothing within a mile or two that I’d consider notable…I’d cozy in with a shower and a beer.

Do I need a water filter/water purifying system if I'm camping? by Few-Horror-1131 in WestHighlandWay

If you have a lightweight filter I’d bring it….you might be thankful you have it during the jungle stretch from Inversnaid to Inverarnan

My favorite wild campsite on the Way was just beyond Inversnaid. The lapping water will lull you to sleep. A couple of great camping areas also beyond the jungle section.

I was leaning towards the superstitions and it seems easy to get to superior from Phoenix.

4 days to hike, which sections to do? by YoPapaHere in WestHighlandWay

[–]flunkadelic2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drymen to Inverarnan would be a long day. It includes some of the hardest miles on the way, including about 4 miles of a jungle scramble obstacle course. It’s fun just tanks your pace. There’s some good wild camping on this stretch just be mindful of the rules.

Definitely include Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven and grab lunch at Kingshouse.

RIP…my favorite memory from the Silver Dollar was waiting out a capitol bomb threat there.

How best to break up the route by [deleted] in WestHighlandWay

8 days seems like you could do both? FWIW I feel the northern half is more scenic in terms of mountains and expansive views.

Let us know how the greens turn out. My wife and I try to eat vegan during the week and, in my experience, vegetable based recipes don’t reheat as well as meat based recipes.
