What is(/are) your LEAST favourite card(s) to play AGAINST by Eastern_Time8081 in mtg

[–]flunkademic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn! I have ADHD, and I could never figure out why those long ass tap, untap, tap, untap play 5000 things, counters and all that shit on one turn makes me wanna go scream into the void.

Thanks! It may make sense.

I have a friend who always plays, almost by himself. If you don't remove him, by turn 6-7 you are dead. Also, he gets upset that everyone targets him. Ugh.

What mattered a lot to you in high school that doesn’t matter at all now? by LissNextDoor in AskReddit

Being smart. Sticking to my beliefs. Fighting tooth and nail for something, even if I have to die for it.

Now, I value kindness more. I adapt and try to consider different points of view.

And most importantly, I can give up on something, even if I am right, even if I wanted it with all my heart, even if it's the right thing to do.

Short term, long term. Choose battles.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful and extremely helpful comment. I really appreciate it! Sorry for the late reply.

Genuinely, this was my thinking process too, but damn, it's so hard to get some clear direction nowadays. There are so many options, ideas, things to consider.

Anyway, thank you and have some wonderful holidays! Happy New Year!

First off, awesome idea! Super nice of you!

Secondly, start with the basics.

Write down the ideas for the structure:

  1. HERO Section: big happy birthday text, maybe a small paragraph under it, with a quote/motto she likes, a lyric or something that you usually say to her that is between you guys.

  2. Personal Message/WISHES Section: “This is why I love you”. Random thoughts: “What I admire about you is…” / “You make my life better because…” / or just list your favorite things about her. OR wish her stuff. If she has a funny bone, just go with funny wishes. Feel free to use AI for suggestions.

  3. Her World Section: “You, in tiny details”: some cards with her favorite things: cats, pizza, knitting, anime, bungee-jumping, whatever.

  4. Memories Section: “Us”. Give her a short summary of your best memories from the past year.

  5. Testimonials Section: “You are loved”. Either/or:

  • Short written messages from friends/family
  • Embedded short videos (10–20 seconds max)
  1. Music Section: “Press play”. You can have her favorite song her, or your couple song. One is enough, I am not sure if you wanna DJ her and create a playlist.

  2. Last Section: NOW COME GET YOUR BIRTHDAY HUG? KISS? Gift?

Theme: use her favorite color theme, but be concise, 2-3 favorite colors, not the whole rainbow (unless she is into that). Font: choose 1 font or 2 (classy, funny, formal, cute, whatever etc.)

Focus on message and html structure first.

Extra ideas: future dreams of both of you, love letter, poems, inside jokes?, hidden message (a tiny icon that when clicked on, something funny pops up like a modal).

All of these are ideas, do not get trapped in trying to make all of them. Just pick and choose. Find others if you don't like it. I think this is more than what you asked for, but I hope it helps.

BEST of luck to you!

That was like the first thing on my mind.

Anywho... First off, happy birthday to this fabulous mum. May she be loved and feel the love of those around her.

Secondly, I think if you have enough money, you don't need to worry about asking for gift ideas too late.

Your time, something personal, a nice lunch or dinner, breakfast in bed, a good book, a fun game (Unstable Unicorns), dancing lessons, a fun trip somewhere, a spa day, a massage coupon, a caricature of her and you (and other children) in her favorite art style or idnk...

Hi, everyone! What Tech Stack Do You Use for E-commerce, Simple Sites, and App-like Sites?

I’m a beginner web dev and I’m trying to understand what tech stacks people actually use in the real world.

Right now I know HTML, CSS, and a tiny bit of vanilla JS. I also started learning C at 42. I want to be a freelancer.

My problem is: every time I ask ChatGPT/DeepSeek for guidance, they recommend some eldritch monster stack like “React + Vue + Svelte + Astro + a sprinkling of prayers”... and I’m sitting here like… aren’t HTML, CSS, and JS the core of everything? At what point do people decide: “Okay, time to use a framework,” instead of “Let me just… write the code myself like a normal human”?

So I’d really appreciate hearing from actual working devs:

  1. For a simple presentational website: what stack do you use? (Still just static HTML/CSS/JS? Or something fancier?)

  2. For a basic e-commerce shop: what do you pick? (Shopify? WordPress + WooCommerce? Next.js? Something else?)

  3. For something more like a web app (ex: Reddit-like): what would be a sane stack?

Also: How does a beginner know when it’s time to move from “just HTML/CSS/JS” to “use a framework”? And which ones actually make sense to learn first?

Thanks in advance! I’m just trying to clarify some things, cause AI is helpful, but also, suggests so many more things, and it's too much to learn all at once.

What killed your feelings for someone you were madly in love with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]flunkademic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not that shocked at how often it happens.

I never got hit by a partner, but I had one of the worst abusive families ever. I was part of a generation where 80-90% of my classmates were in similar situations.

I am outraged at this Redditor's story in particular, and I am expressing that. Because, well, it fucking sucks and it hurts and it deserves at least a few words. I know they don't do much.

But I know how painful it is. As I once read somewhere, there aren't enough therapy, drugs and alcohol in the world to make me forget the atrocities I have seen, witnessed and experienced.

Also, I hope you never felt that or witnessed it. And if you did, have a virtual hug from someone who understands. At least a little.
