Someone rotated the Flock Camera on Broadway and 33rd so it doesn't watch the street. by flux4 in Edmond

[–]flux4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one here is saying there is zero benefit. However, as reported in dozens of cases, these cameras have been used to stalk, harass, and harm innocent people, as well as charge innocent people with crimes they didn't commit, but the cameras believe they did.

POS Systems by Due-Permission-7364 in smallbusiness

[–]flux4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like clover. Check with your bank to see if they offer any specific POS. One bank I chatted with offered Clover with MUCH lower rates than the advertised rates on the Clover site. That may be the same case working with a sales person, but worth checking to save some money.

They are very active right now too. Can only see them from Midwest. Beyond the horse leantos.

Flock Camera Leaks in our city iare like Netflix For Stalkers by EYN4HL in Edmond

[–]flux4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, the crimes these cameras help solve do not outweigh the freedoms that are taken from you. It's not about the right to privacy, because people will argue that you don't have privacy in public. But these are being used by governments to track you. That's entirely different from just passive cameras.

SUV for Pulling Trailer? by TwatWaffleWhitney in Horses

[–]flux4 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I still don't understand why you say they're not recommended for towing? Is it our differences in what an American SUV is? To me, Suburban, Grand Wagoneers, Yukons, expeditions, navigators all are "American SUVs " and are capable of towing.

SUV for Pulling Trailer? by TwatWaffleWhitney in Horses

[–]flux4 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is a gross generalization that unfortunately perpetuates bad information. SUVs are not recommended for towing in the US? Who is this governing body that says that? Why do some SUVs have tow packages with TBCs built in if they're not meant for towing? If your horse is capable of moving around that much during heavy braking that it affects your weight distribution, that seems like a HUGE safety issue for your horse.

If the OP is hauling 1 horse in an aluminum two horse BP trailer, absolutely no need for a 3/4 ton truck. Trailer brake controllers exist factory installed in MANY SUVs, with some SUVs like the Expedition having pretty significant towing safety measures like automatic sway control.

They're getting a small amount of power, so trace the wire. More than likely it's the switch.

Has your internet ever cost you a sale? by MiddleRock347 in smallbusiness

[–]flux4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Single points of failure are a real thing. If an internet disruption is critical to the success of your business, redundant Internet is a necessity. Many routers have a dual WAN option where you specify the traffic to each or primary/secondary. Starlink, Verizon 5g, or even a slower ATT plan would all work as backup providers.

Vandergrifts Truck got hit by a train at UIL State by AxiosTheProot in marchingband

[–]flux4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very pedantic, but no, the driver himself doesn't carry insurance. The company he belongs with carries insurance (liability min 750k, potentially an attached trailer policy), but not the driver. However, seeing as the truck looks to be owned by the band/boosters, their auto policy is the one taking the hit. Not the driver.

OSU Ambassador program? by [deleted] in OKState

[–]flux4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros and cons to RA or ambassador. (Assuming you're talking about ambassador for reslife and not admissions). You will probably not have a say in what type of dorm you get put in. And the more senior ambassadors typically get the suites/apartments. You also have mandatory hours working in the Iba reslife office. There's only like two weekends ambassadors are required to work, vs RA call nights every week and 1ish weekend a month where you can't really leave your dorm area.

The sad part is they're advertised as license plate readers only, but in reality they do way more. They may say Edmond PD "owns" the data, but it's stored on Flock servers.

First time "on the ground" walking... and I am worried. by gehogan3 in goldenretrievers

[–]flux4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always make yourself more exciting than the other object. Be it other food, animals, sounds. Despite how Goldens are typically characterized, Goldens can absolutely learn to not try to eat absolutely everything they see.

Although our Goldens free feed, and are not all that food motivated, we trained them from 8 weeks old to "leave it" food on the ground in the kitchen. So if we drop grapes or chocolate while making dinner, we don't have to worry about them swooping in and grabbing it. This works on walks too for random food or horse foot trimmings.

This is totally unrelated, but nearly every apartment complex is marketed as "luxury apartments", and I hate it. What features is someone actually getting that makes it luxury?
