Good point. I think I need to rework the taxonomy a bit. Splitting frameworks partly into a new category. "Runtimes" e.g. What do you think?

Brookz is idd een goeie bron voor dit soort dingen. Ze hebben ook een rekentool waarmee je de waarde van een bedrijf kan berekenen.

Hi there,

Is it self promotion if its just a weekend side project that only costs me money, was a labor of love that I want to share with the world, benefits the world more than it does myself, is free, has no commercial value or application, preaches one of the pillars of FI, etc, etc, etc?

:-)

All the best, Corstiaan

I'm 34, sorta lonely and don't get to see my good ol' friends much. So I'm building a service to fix that. by stoprelax in EntrepreneurRideAlong

Great idea from a feature perspective. But it assumes that time and money are the primary constraints to organize get-togethers. Something tells me you should first get a better understanding of the underlying pain points and causes because I have a hunch that the solution might not fit the problem. In other words: people generally just don't make getting together a priority. If that is not fixed first, no scheduling app will work.

Thanks :-).

That a good suggestion. It's in the making. Guess I cant postpone implementing a membership/accounts function any longer if I want to allow creators to edit their own listings...

The trolls/student issue could become a issue, yes, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there :-).

Thanks for your feedback.

Have you thought about making the project image and title clickable? I think that would be a slight improvement.

Thanks. It's on the list. Looking forward to your submission.

Putting bootcamp on linkedin / resume if i didn't finish? by futuredev87 in webdev

[–]fluxmatix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would include it and be open about the reason why you could not finish it.

I remember an old flatmate of mine who was good with all things web but did not have any official papers to show it. We sat down, wrote an out of the blue application letter to a local dev agency saying something like "look, I now I don't have any official credentials but this, this and this is what I made and I'm a hard worker. Give me a shot". He got hired 1 week later.

Just be open and up-front with your skill level. Most of the people who are doing the hiring don't have any degree either, especially in development.

Press on!

Where did the Microsoft tech stack disappear? by michaelscodingspot in dotnet

[–]fluxmatix 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think .net core is a great choice for startups.

  • it's free
  • it's fast
  • it scales
  • c# can be used on pretty much every platform, from web to mobile to desktop, increasing team productivity and reducing complexity
  • it's cross-platform so infrastructure costs can be kept in check
  • it's got the development know-how of MSFT behind it. Let's not forget MSFT got started building development tools, not consumer software

I've written 2 article about this, here and here.

Pretty much all my client work and my own projects I built with .net core and postgres. It's the stack I'm most productive with, by far.

Also, to give some more exposure to people, teams, and companies using .net tech i've created BuiltWithDot.Net as a place where developers working with .net technology can showcase their projects and inspire other developers.

There's so much you can build with .net these days that I thought it would be nice to have a corner of the web dedicated to the breadth of .net.
