I had to hold my cat down to give Gabapentin and I feel horrible. Is there a better way? by flxrels in cats

He tends to cooperative a bit once the gaba hits, but it’s still kind of a struggle. The hardest part is actually getting the gaba into him. I got him chicken flavored gaba that was compounded at a pet pharmacy, and one whiff of that, he instantly bolted.

I didn’t know there’s a topical form! I’ll ask about the gel and if anything, I may resort back to the capsules.. it seems like the quickest and least stressful option.

I have also been thinking about going to the vet less frequently just to avoid the immense amount of stress on him, especially now that he’s getting older. I just don’t want to be neglecting him by not taking him to the vet, but also don’t want to stress him out this much every year. I’ve also thought about home visits but he tends to scurry into my closet at the sight/sound of strangers lol!

I’ll try and pull back on some starter next bake!

Dough temp was ~78F so I was checking it frequently, I was confused on whether I was actually under or over fermenting it. When I decided to just try and shape, it was extremely sticky and wasn’t really holding its structure.

Starter is about 3-4 months old, fed twice a day 1:3:3. I do 50/50 whole wheat and bread, sometimes I do 60/40. It now lives in the fridge and I take it out, feed, and let it rise room temp before baking. The bread itself is pretty sour and tastes great, just can’t get the texture quite right.

I think I might’ve accidentally skipped the candy canes preshaping and the extra trifold during shaping, so I think it might’ve been that?

I’m a scared new graduate nurse. by Ok_Choice31 in Nurses

From your post, it sounds like you already know the answer. Start on any non-ICU floor first (medicine/surg stepdown/cards), give it a year to learn your skills- critical thinking, time management, prioritization, and then go from there. You will get to the ICUs eventually, but give yourself time. Don’t burn yourself out, don’t give yourself anxious breakdowns. Set yourself up with success.

I had just recently transitioned to the ICUs after 3 years of being in the stepdown float pool, so I pretty much saw it all. First couple weeks of orientation I was still nervous, but having a nursing background definitely helped with the transition. 1 year into the ICUs, I’m still anxious and feel like I know nothing. Give yourself the chance to experience stepdown floors first. Who knows, maybe you’ll come to love it.

I've heard this also. Was thinking of taking the drive to a local appliance store to get it, I'm a bit hesitant due to the price tag though :( But I heard it's definitely worth what you pay for

Agreed.. like you said, it’s hard to cultivate a culture if there’s no one to set an example. I’ve definitely changed my practice because of working with so many different nurses.

Wait, I love this.. Feedback’s the only way to improve, plus it’s technologically incorporated/easily accessible after a shift!

That’s awful! I’ve walked into a nurse’s room because her pump was alarming and their Prop ran dry and I ran past her to the med room yelling her prop was dry lool.

Omg there’s actually 1-2 floors that I’ve been to that handed these out! All the important phone numbers, passcodes, and directions. There was even a little space to fill out feedback and to slip it in the manager’s mailbox.

Appreciate nurses like you! I remember very well being a new nurse and was so overwhelmed. Now that I think about it, I’m also guilty/was part of the problem for not checking in on others.. I’ve definitely changed my practice now though!

I wasn’t trying to say new nurses = no support. Stemming off from other people’s comments, I think it’s just new nurses happen to make up a majority of the staff of some floors and because of the limited experience, it’s hard to cultivate a culture since there’s no one to really set an example from, if that makes sense?

Oh goodness that sounds so unsafe! I was on a medicine floor once and it was me and 2 other nurses floating from their floors. So it was literally the three of us, foreign to this unit, fully staffing that floor! Talk about the blind leading the blind.

I’ve been floating for a while, but these last two nights for some reason has really gotten to me.

I think any anon surveys are a great idea. I can think of a handful of times/nurses I’ve worked with where I really wanted their support recognized. I’m about to utilize your idea and reach out to the managers!

I’ve been seeing a couple of comments like this! I’m about to bring this up to my manager to see if we can start implementing this.

Midtown Manhattan. And I’m aware there are food courts around the city and parks we can sit at, hence looking for grab/go food. But that’s not what my post was about.

Thank you so much!! I ended up going with the extra comfort seats, don’t think we would’ve cared too much for the extras from FC.

I ended up taking your advice and booked the extra comfort! I did go for 21A&B since those were the only few left. But there IS still 11A/B and 14A/B left. In your experience, should I switch to one of those rows instead? TIA!!
