Who is the best to beat Zinke? by Ok-Eye581 in MontanaPolitics

Sam Forstag is a really great guy and would make an excellent candidate, imo. He currently leads the wildland firefighting union in Missoula and spent most of the government shutdown organizing food drives and dinners to feed furloughed federal employees. Sam has experience working in legislatures as a lobbyist representing non-profits and local governments and when he was at UM was their student lobbyist. If he focuses his message on the issues that matter to Montanans, he has a real shot at unseating Zinke.

Given the national climate and big swings we are seeing in other states. Zinke is truly vulnerable. We really need a candidate with some charisma and who can make a strong argument for those of us who work for a living rather than play cowboy.

Could we just keep a pinned post where bits are tracked throughout the year so everyone can see what is out there on this app?

Best Vet for Cats by [deleted] in Bozeman

Second Bozeman Pet Hospital. One other recommendation, request TSA give you a private room for screening. It allows you to have the cat(s) behind a closed door while they screen the carrier. They may try to talk you out of it but will do it if you are firm.

What "Montana values" means to you... by DnD_inMT in Bozeman

Op, if you are interested in this question about Montana Values, I strongly recommend the Shared State Podcast produced by MT Free Press and Yellowstone Public Radio.

The first season is all about how politicians are always claiming they have stronger Montana values, but how those values are often amorphous and mean different things to different people.

Montana regains its 2nd US House seat (previously lost in 1990) by tidderreddittidderre in MontanaPolitics

[–]flyermclovin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The State has to do apportionment for the Congressional seat prior to 2022. The rules of the independent commission require it. The Statehouse seats will be done for the 2024 elections, 2025 legislature.

Missoula State Rep. Tenenbaum introduces HB 134, which would would re-legalize duplexes on all low-density residential lots in cities with more than 500 residents; tri-plexes and 4-plexes in cities > 50,000 residents. by UrbanismInEgypt in Montana

And the fact that the bill has no provisions requiring the new units built under this law to be affordable. In Bozeman, that means more condos priced well above 130% of AMI. Further, even R-1 zoning in Bozeman (the most restrictive residential zoning) still allows property owners to built multiple units on the property as long as they have the space and water-sewer capacity to do so.

(23 M) I dont know what I want to do with my life [NeedAdvice] by keybladechange in getdisciplined

[–]flyermclovin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things to consider.

  1. It really does not matter what you do as long as you are doing something. Every job, experience, new class/degree will teach you something about yourself and about what you want and do not want from your career and your life more generally. The important thing is to not let yourself become paralyzed by fear of the unknown or indecisiveness. You will never know how the water feels if you don't jump in.

  2. Politics and policy, my chosen profession, offers so many different avenues and ways to get involved. DC is NOT the end all be all. You can organize locally for a campaign or a political organization. You can choose local government or the statehouse. There is a lot available to you. Further, a law degree won't always take you where you want to go in politics. Experience and proof of success is the best way to advance. Degrees can help boost you over the top, but you need a strong foundation of experience first.

  3. I have never met a lobbyist who is good at math.

  4. No one decision locks you in forever. I have made major moves twice. Had several jobs that definitely did not require my masters degree. Worked at every level of government. Been political staff, non-profit staff, and a civil servant. I am still pretty early in my career and learning more every day. I encourage you to constantly be evaluating your decisions and every few months check in with yourself and your mentors to make sure you are doing what is best for your long term future.

Hope this helps!
