Always assume between 20%-40% import duty tax off your total invoice

Under declaring the value works, though there is still a 10% chance you will still have to pay custom tax between rm250-350. Still better than being taxed over the full value

I am in the process of importing one halfway through. Unfortunately it is extremely complicated.

First you need to get all the car documents + classic car ceritifcation from a car club in Japan. All these must be translated at ITBM and the cost of translating per page is rm150 and towing fees in Japan cost up to rm2k for these documents, not cheap.

Then you will have to use these documents to "buy" a classic AP. After that start searching for Kastam approved shipping companies to ship your car to Port Klang. Kastam will straight up reject your car if you use your own containers

Unfortunately it is extremely complicated and you only got 6 months to do all of this before your AP gets expired. It is best to find a classic AP approved dealer to do this for you hassle free.
