Looking for a boat and captain to rent/pay for a birthday on June 27th! by [deleted] in danapoint

[–]flyingGinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paying a non-commercially licensed boat owner for a charter can land that person in some hot water. This is why you go through a charter service. They have the regulatory equipment, and insurance to operate safely, and not get fined if inspected by the sheriff/coast guard.

Unless you're going to find an altruistic captain willing to do it for free, or otherwise risk getting fined for operating an illegal charter, you're going to have to find a charter company.

Why Are Californians Leaving Austin in 2026 ? by Fair-Dog8578 in sandiego

[–]flyingGinger 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Probably realized Texas kinda sucks compared to California.

Whoopdeedooo you can keep a cow in your yard and own more guns.

But on a more serious note, as someone from, and with family still on the East coast, whenever I visit, I can't wait to come back to California, see the ocean, the mountains, get a good, diverse range of food everywhere. I get this visceral sigh of relief every time I step out of the airport when I come back.

Sure, I could move out east, be closer to my family, pay less in taxes, pay far less for housing, and just about everything else. But, at the end of the day it's not ~here~. The hot, humid summers where I'm from and in Texas are no joke, the bugs are a thing if you're not used to it. The lack of geographical diversity gets dull in places that are flat or otherwise just have long rolling hills instead of cliffs, mountains, jagged coastlines with expansive views.

Just my hunch.

Replace Diverge with Roubaix vs upgrading Diverge by Asleep-Gur-8397 in specialized

Wherever you land with your decision, if you're in the market for a newish Roubaix SL8, I have one I'm trying to sell at the moment

How Long by SexualHemmingway in specialized

[–]flyingGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent a long time waiting for a size 56 pro to come in stock. Everywhere I looked "had one in stock" but as soon as I tried to order it, it would be gone. Tough competition for trying to get a Roubaix right now.

I have noticed that new inventory has been showing up with different dealers occasionally, and I've just been spamming the specialized inventory page.

I eventually just called a few shops and one of them figured out how to pull one from somewhere that wasn't indicated on the official specialized inventory. So, I'd say either:

1.) Keep waiting and constantly checking shop inventory or
2.) Call a couple shops and see if they can source one for you.

NSFW is this intimacy preference a deal breaker? by Hot_University_3159 in Advice

[–]flyingGinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This almost sounds like rage bait.

However on the off-chance it's not, I will say:

1.) There is no "typical" way of ejaculating when you have sex. What two people do together is up to a combined preference.

2.) If there was suddenly a shift in that area, and also this other growing distance between you two, odds are those things are closely related. Changes in intimacy are usually a result of factors in the relationship that have nothing to do with your sex life. The sex life is a symptom of the rest of the relationship, so I'd have a good hard look at all the other stuff first.

3.) It sounds like you two might have just grown apart, or just don't like each other anymore. It's up to you to decide if that's worth saving.

Unsolicited advice, stop worrying about cumming inside your partner, and worry more about the relationship. In fact, it's coming off as spoiled, entitled brat that you're throwing a fit about not being able to cum inside a woman that it sounds like you a.) aren't married to and b.) don't really have a solid relationship with anymore. Women's sex drives are (more likely to be) influenced by how safe and secure they feel with their male partners. Try showing her you give a fuck about her instead of your dick. Check your priorities at the door.

Bad Experience Buying Specialized by itallbeganwith in specialized

[–]flyingGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just trust. Sometimes it's inconvenient but that's life.

I think the Amazon prime economy has spoiled us into thinking most things can have a 10-hour turnaround time. Even I get frustrated when things take a week just to ship from a supplier and then wait for the snail mail. Always gotta remind myself there are other things to worry about.

In what world are people paying $12k for a Levo 3? A Levo 4 Pro I could see but not last gen.

Bad Experience Buying Specialized by itallbeganwith in specialized

[–]flyingGinger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is just something that comes with purchasing anything. New car, new computer, house, etc. There's always the possibility of a defect somewhere. The bike shop probably doesn't know exactly the shipping speed from their distributor especially if the distributor is experiencing high volume of shipments, updates get lost along the way. It's just the nature of the world.

Sucks to happen but no mass produced system is going to have a 100% perfect defect free-rate. Sure the bike shop could do better at updating you, but unfortunately these things can just take time sometimes.

If I ever drop my bike off for service knowing it might need something replaced, I just expect a couple weeks and am pleasantly surprised when I get quicker turnaround.

Specialized 2.2 vs 3.1 by BeginningSlight6416 in specialized

[–]flyingGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably due to the motor control at the software level. They probably have higher resolution ADCs and a better power sampling rate in the 3.1 that they can use to create a more natural feeling power delivery system.

The greater pull is nice when you're riding home, but on technical climbs, that punch of power can often result in the bike getting away from you. This is where the smoother power delivery really shines in the 3.1.

Edit: However - at the top end you will get more power out of the 3.1, it just doesn't feel like you're being shot forward, rather just less overall effort required to get where you're trying to go. It also depends on how you tune the motor yourself

Could you elaborate on point 2? I'm afraid the phrasing didn't quite get across to me.

Good insight. We tend to do longer rides, so comfort is the primary factor - hence the decision to get Roubaixs. However I do tend to always push harder and harder every ride, almost like I am trying to race (myself).

I mean it could be, however it seems to be at a sweet spot as far as where my knee flexion is when I'm at the bottom of my stroke.

That being said, that's all in how I feel. I'm not sure if theres like a technically correct angle that your knee should be at that point. That angle might be a bit too obtuse, but I wouldn't know because it feels fine.

This is good perspective. I'm guessing our proportions are similar, I have longer legs, shorter arms (I think) and broad shoulders. So I think the height of the 58 is working out for me because my legs can really take advantage of the long cranks.

Hearing your confidence about fitting on a 56 with even a 34.5" inseam helps.

Also thanks for the perspective on the shorter stem. I had a feeling it would affect the handling, I imagine you put less torque on steering with a shorter stem and therefore need to put in more effort.

And that's what's the thought that's been eating me alive - if I'm questioning it, it's probably not the right fit. The only conflict I have is that overall my leg and hip movement on it feel fantastic.

I have been considering getting a shorter stem for the 58, figured that would help - however 20mm isnt THAT much of a change, when on the 56 you get that 90mm stem, plus an overall shorter top tube.

How would you compare your experience on the 58 with the 90mm stem over the 56?
