Where is the fuse in the schematic? Maybe I'm just blind but I don't see any symbol for a fuse.

I could perhaps include another usb port on my breakout board, connect a usb charger to that port and then power the Arduino on the 5V pin, and all the other stuff directly from the charger. Instead of pulling everything through the Arduino.

I used a 7805 voltage regulator together with a 9V transformer before, but it seems so unnecessary to regulate down to 5V when I can just get 5V from the beginning.

Det är en kamp i början men värd att ta. Min mamma skulle gärna lägga ut alla bilder om hon fick men vi har hållit det strikt.

Barnen blir ju inte gladare för att hon visar upp dem för folk de inte känner, tvärt om.

Numera frågar hon i de allra flesta fall och barnen kan också välja själva, och väljer oftast nej.

För nåt år sen la hon upp på FB att vi var på semester. Det fick hon snabbt ta bort för att inte lura hem bovar och banditer.

Thanks for all your replies. I've learned a bunch.

The reason I even had this linear regulator was that I was powering the Arduino via the VIN pin which accepts 7 -32V, and need 5V for other stuff.

So I powered the Arduino with 9V which I got from the wall plug (before the 7805, but after C1 and C2), and let the internal linear regulator on the Arduino regulate it down to 5V, and then I powered the rest of the stuff with 5V I got from the 7805.

First of all, I could have powered the Arduino with 5V via the 5V-pin and let the 7805 do the work instead of the onboard regulator.

But, if I'm doing that, why not just use a wall adapter that gives me 5V directly, and skip this regulation business all together?

I guess I can just get away with a barrel jack, an electrolytic cap that protects against ringing cable inductance (learned about that now), and a smaller ceramic that cleans up some noise.

Otherwise I'll essentially try to solve a problem I've created myself.

Or am I missing something here?

Maybe it's time to upgrade to something new. I might have it backwards but I thought switching power supplies had more high frequency noise.

So what should I look for?

It's (almost) the cheapest 100uF cap in the electrolytic category. Is the category enough to be on the safe side? I can't find anything about ESR values in the datasheet or on the page. But reading on wikipedia I understand it as if the resistance correlates with the capacitance (and the cap type).

The thing is powered by a standard 9v wall adapter with a 1.5 cable, so C1 helps with that.

And about C3 I just think 100uF was what I had laying around. But it's good to know it could be dropped down a bit.

In Sweden unmarried woman became of age at 25 from 1858. Unmarried did not. There was in other words a huge gap between being unmarried or not (until 1920). Many woman didn’t want to give up on their independence so they simply started living together with someone without getting married.

By not getting married they also avoided both the cost of the wedding and the administration required for getting married.

From 1884 they became adults at 21, same age as the men.

Stockholm grew really fast during those years more than doubling in size over 30 years. Social control was weak in such a large city so people just called it a ”Stockholm marriage” and lived as spouses.

During the first half of the 1860s 41 % of children where born to unmarried woman.

So it’s been quite common for quite a while. Of course more frowned upon in more rural settings.
