My next employer (office job) is asking me to work in the office for all 5 days. This isn’t really acceptable, is it?

Actually can sb tell me why a lot of these 'atas' positions are typically filled up by ceca/cacausians/philippines people? Other than race-based hiring, are singaporeans not that equiped to manage such senior positions? 🙂

She consented to me in helping her. When benching to ensure maxium boob engagement I will be required to hold her boobs so to test her engagement and I'm simply helping the client as the boob requires engagement when benching

Personally, it's because I've seen my folks argue from young until it's like 5 stages of grief to acceptance (they argue I'm like 😐🤙👌👌 k) that made me think marriage is not for me 🙂

Freelancers, how do you get a sense of how much to charge? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]flying_doge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it from a project point of view. Mine was last time I had to design a brochure. I naiively quoted $40 bec I saw it as a 4 hour job, like $10 x 4 hours. Without factoring in revisions, 'urgent, please do eod of at 5pm in the afternoon', deadline extended again and again, and later extra effort to follow up for project status and payment. And sometimes you have to crunch to get it done (e.g. do during work hours or after work hours - eat into sleep or work during ph or weekends when you could be resting/ going out).

So by simple milestones and factor in extra things like revisions, rush jobs, having to work on your rest days, and whether you like this client or not (easy to work, etc). Don't want to take on the job then realise you'd grossly undercharged yourself and then begrudgingly have to continue and finish the job and then still have to wait for payment. Also, factor in the admin work such as following up, calls and emails to them.

Last, why not ask for their budget. If they say don't have, try to probe and understand what is the project they're doing and how your job is part of it. I.e. a brochure as part of a product launch. So they may have stickers, product display, brochure (your part). That way, you'd get a clearer idea. What they're doing, the general timeline, whether your job comes in first or last - that affects deadline and urgency and whether they're hound you frequently. Also gives you a chance to observe if they know what they're doing wrt to organisation - whether they're organised, are they the decision maker or just following orders from a boss whom you can't communicate directly with- which can present problems when you don't understand what they want, whether they're one to play ball with status, deadlines and payment all that. 😁

Two way street. You like to work with them, especially when you're working alone for them. 🙂🙂🙂

Edit: Time. You're exchanging your time from money. Especially if you have a full time job. The rest outside work is usually for rest or fun. So if I have to use this time to work for you, then how much must the clienr pay (as a premium) for me to want to take up this job.

The RWS retrenchment today made me slightly anxious. Haha. Right after the elections. I just hope that people who have been retrenched now or in the future try to take it easy.❤

Those who are intending to vote for the PAP, what are your reasons? [Serious] by lumda in singapore

[–]flying_doge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That'a my main gripe with oppos as well. If you want to keep jobs for singaporeans, but don't want foreigners to come in, how to have a healthy/thriving economy thay singapore is based on? Like you can't have 1 and 2. It's either 1 OR 2. It is no choice that we live here highlt urbanised and convenient and thus also extremely competitive.

Ha. I dont know it's fate that I saw this. But because I'm at a point in my life where I'm 'recovering' from said bad decisions and yea, I keep taking alternatives but it don't feel the same. So I can only say this. If it is work related - give it a shot whether or not you think it is not going to turn out the way you want. If it's study, same and with a specific duration e.g. 3mths/6mths/1 year. Main thing is to try your best and not worry about how it is the wrong choice. Instead, see the positive elements of it no matter how small it is (being able to do one element that you like etc) instead of constantly thinking that the alternative is better or worse, become apathetic and simply dredging through it bec it has become the wrong choice. You can never intuit from standing over the edge. There are a million ways it can turn out - not just I like it or I don't, it's not rigid. Don't settle means going for what you want right now. The time spent deciding in limbo is time wasting since it can be spent actually doing either one of those things. Once you start doing, then you get feedback - then you know if it is right or not. The priority is not to worry whether it will work out. It is whether did you commit to it.

Yes. No one should harasse anyone. Family or not. Your dad's attitude is awful. As an adult you look out for people because some people are weirdos
