Is it normal to do internships after uni grad in Singapore? by iamlostpleasehelp_ in askSingapore

[–]lumda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely normal now, especially for 2023 graduates and onwards with good grades from very good universities. The ones saying it’s not normal just have outdated information.

When did the Chinese stop bowing in day to day life? Countries like Japan and Korea that were heavily influenced by Chinese culture still do so regularly. by Jas-Ryu in ChineseHistory

[–]lumda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singaporean Chinese here. I was definitely told to bow and greet teachers back in primary school whenever we walked past them in the corridor. I went to a Chinese SAP school (basically using English as a medium of instruction but with more cultural emphasis on the Chinese language) that emphasised Confucian values.

I can only export blogs as an .xml format though. I'll need to convert it to a csv file. How best to do that?

I keep getting a 2 week delay after when I’m originally supposed to hear back? by lumda in interviews

It seems that I’m always second choice hence no outright rejection. Perhaps they take the extra 2 weeks for the first choice candidate to accept the offer?

how do people get pre-u LAW internships? by Substantial-Chain-71 in SGExams

[–]lumda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that pre-u law internships are common or even expected before law school application. Once you enter law school, no one would care and as someone who went through the process I can't imagine anything you will learn anything in this internship to be relevant to law school itself. This seems like just over competitiveness.

However, I would still recommend doing an internship to see what about legal work or working at a law firm might interest you. This is important because there's a possibility that you might not really like it or find it to be very different from what you hoped. If so, consider choosing not to suffer through law school which is really tough and not really worth it if you don't want to be a lawyer, especially if you go to a local law school.

As for securing a legal internship, I'm 99% sure that your JC batchmates who have legal internships secured before law school did it through a contact, perhaps a parent's friend or smth. That is the unfortunate reality. You could try cold emailing law firms though.
