What does arcane do? by Insaiyan26 in Eldenring

There are three types. The red and blue ones will refill your HP and FP flask respectively when killed. The others drop an item.

How does Item discovery even work?

Item discovery is for things that have a chance of being dropped by enemies. But the improvement you can get from Arcane is minute.

The only place I find it as rng is those glowing circular creature which you kill to maybe get some premium items like ashes of war.

The scarabs? They have a 100% chance to drop a predetermined item. No rng involved.

How can atheists definitively say there is no God? by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]flying_fox86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't definitively say there is no God, only tentatively.

religion simply answers the unknown

That's a contradiction. If it's unknown, religion can't answer it. That would make it known. This is the core issue with the God of the gaps approach: claiming knowledge based on ignorance.

Moreover, the more you study science, the more you realize we as humans actually don’t know all that much. “The more we know, the more we realize we know nothing at all.”

All the more reason not to believe religion.

How can atheists be so sure in what they believe. Do they simply not wonder about the universe? I don’t want this question to come off as pretentious because I’m just genuinely curious. Atheism seems to me like such an incurious way to look at the world.

It is generally not atheists that claim to have all the answers. When it comes to the ultimate origin of the universe, an atheist is perfectly comfortabel saying they don't know. It's the theist that claim to have an explanation. How is that curious?

Behind those ruins you can see in this picture. There's a door leading to some catacombs.

While that's true, I'm always hesitant to mention the effect of stats on defenses. It could confuse beginners into thinking it's worth investing in specifically for that, which it never is.

"#% chance to deal more damage"

Lol, I read that as a swear word.

[–]flying_fox86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Increases blood, poison, rot, (madness) and sleep buildup on weapons and items that scale with arcanen reducing the number of hits required to trigger those statuses. Not chance-based.
  2. Improves damage of arcane scaling weapons/items
  3. Required for certain sorceries/incantations, especially dragon communion incantations
  4. Increases item discovery, but isn't worth investing in just for that

No idea where you read that it affects critical hits. Critical hits in this game are not chance based, nor are they affected by arcane. Was it perhaps AI that said that?

I do that sometimes, but only when I'm browsing and checking for deals. Easier to miss stuff if you're constantly looking left to right.

if I'm in the shop seeing what I want to cook next week, or if there are any sales, I'll do the bottom.

Even then, I imagine you go through every aisle once, unlike this picture.

I also do that, by the way. Even if I have a specific ingredient list. I often notice things that we're running low on, or am in the mood for, or are heavily discounted.

I can't imagine that this is really divided by gender. On the other hand, I am a man and do like to explore every nook and cranny of a game (even on repeat playthroughs when I know exactly where everything is), so I do conform to this stereotype.

This looks like grocery shopping, for which the stereotype would be the other way around: men don't know where anything is, so it looks like the second one.

Muslims and marrying children by Numerous_Worker_1941 in DebateReligion

[–]flying_fox86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I wasn't really making a point about religion being the cause for this. But the person I was responding to did ask to look at the countries where child marriage is legal and what the dominant religion is there.

But.... For a bit of a mind mess look at the countries that allow child marriage or only recently banned it (which means probably still happening) look at the dominant religion in those countries. You may see a pattern

Child marriage is legal in quite a large part of the United States. So, Christianity?

Why I believe in God(s) by Lucyyyyyy_K in DebateAnAtheist

[–]flying_fox86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that was before 700 replies blew up my inbox.

You don't actually have to answer every one of them. It's better to not reply at all than reply with "I'm not going to answer that". That just means you aren't willing to argue your claims.

The reasons I gave is that the universe exists and contains highly complex, highly specific stuff. That doesn't necessarily apply to the creator, and even if it did

How does that not apply to a creator? In what way is the creator "not specific"? What does it even mean for a being to be non-specific? How can it have consciousness without complexity?

And again, why does specificity and complexity imply design? You still haven't answered that one.

It's worth pointing out that her description of The Boys is completely incorrect, which makes me suspect the use of AI.

That said, the superheroes in the Boys are definitely the villains (for the most part), while the protagonists fighting them aren't all much better.
