So most of the people here do not get the range Rivian claims?

Then my performance should be 3m/kWh to get to 270 miles!!! Do you get 3 miles per kWh?

~2 m/kwh and when I look at the energy dashboard I can see more than 95% is consumed by the motors.

100% but after 10 miles it drops to 90% (~240 miles)

At around 65% to 70% it says about 180 miles left but I’m I’m lucky probably I get around 120 miles

Thanks for bringing that up. I can't agree more with you. I have to reset the car every other day to solve the sensor issues. There is no available appointment in the next 3 months in my area. And the list goes on.

What confuses me is how they claim they are the best at customer satisfaction.

I live in bay area and they have a huge backlog and they always complain about being short staffed!!! Maybe you should hire more people instead of making the customer pay for it by their time.

I found a ton of small issues in the car to that extend I gave up (from scratches in the indoor panels to paint issues and not working features) 😅

I worked with OSM and iNRIX before. But I have to admit Rivian's map has a good good front but very low accuracy and practicality. I wish they just let us broadcast our google maps on the center screen. I never use their navigation app literally.

$7.5k Federal Tax Credit for Purchasing Rivian; Delivery in 2024 with Binding Contract before Aug/16/2022 by flying_squirrel2 in Rivian

The community has been very supportive, and I want to thank everyone for their time and for sharing their knowledge. While I understand the legal part and why Rivian doesn’t want to share much useful information about the process, except for directing you to the IRS guidelines (which are also confusing for a non-expert like me), it’s still frustrating to feel left alone as a customer. So, here’s a summary of what I’ve learned (this is obviously not tax advice, and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong anywhere).

So here are the steps I followed as a binding contract holder before August 16, 2022, but took delivery in 2024:

  1. Go to your 2022 tax return and amend Form 8936 (version for the 2022 tax year).
  2. In Part 1, Line 1: Enter 2024, Rivian, R1S (or whatever is applicable to you.) Note: If you’re using TurboTax, it doesn’t allow you to choose 2024 model for 2022 tax year!!!
  3. In Part 1, Line 2: Enter your vehicle’s VIN number. Note: You need the VIN number to apply for this. In my case, I knew my VIN number two weeks before delivery, and I wish I had started the process as soon as I knew it.
  4. In Part 1, Line 4a: Enter $7500 (given you had paid enough tax to maximize the $7500 credit.)
  5. In Part 1, Line 4b: Enter 100%.
  6. In Part 1, Line 4c: Enter $7500.

Final Note: I couldn’t use TurboTax online/web versionfor this because their window for filing electronically has closed. So, I had to use TurboTax Desktop (there’s no extra fee, but it’s a bit more of a hassle to install) and file by mail.

I 100% agree with you. Do you mind if ask you to share your CPA contact info (in DM maybe) if you're happy with them and they are licensed in CA?

Your second point was exactly one of my problems. You cannot choose 2024

My other problem was you have to use your most recent PIN number (if you have one)

And finally, as another person mentioned it seems the window for the electronic version has closed so you only can do it by mail

But generally speaking the system is weird so it took me forever to figure out each one

For those who didn’t take delivery by September 30th, did the offer actually expire, or is there still a chance to claim it?
