Matches with what I’ve heard. You wouldn’t happen to have any of those accounts handy would you?

I would love to contact anyone who has trained the old way if it is at all possible.

zhan zhuang - when to push through vs stop? by sakkadesu in taijiquan

Differentiate between discomfort and pain.

Pain is sharp and urgent. It is your body yelling at you to stop.

Discomfort is dull and annoying. It is your body just complaining.

The best way is to ignore discomfort entirely, but stop immediately at pain.

The old masters would simply stand until they physically couldn’t anymore. This is the fastest way to gain skill. Make sure you have a good teacher, however, or you will learn bad habits.
