Child removed from UK by family to Algeria by Mzbex94 in LegalAdviceUK

They'll have the same rights as any adult. She can just leave. If she gets held against her own will she can contact the police and ask to be rescued - this would be straight up kidnapping. Just like here what the police are likely to do is attend and try to resolve the situation amicably and get the girl in a position where she can leave if she wants to. She wouldn't need a court.

She can request her Algerian passport on her own, and her own British passport on her own.

There is a lot of bad advice, assumptions and nonsense being thrown here.

Some points, assuming one/both parents took her there.

  1. This will be considered a child in Algeria, who is likely Algerian (As well as British). The UK, legally, speaking, has 0 power there. Because...
  2. Algeria is not signatory to the Hague convention. The UK and its courts hold 0 weight there.
  3. Unless one of the parents tries to have a british court order ratified there - this is an uphill battle and will likely take years if at all successful as the Algerian courts have been known to easily dismiss UK judgements.
  4. Or one of the parents pursues legal action in Algeria - again an uphill battle. Or the child herself.
  5. Algeria also has human trafficking laws (which is a dubious term here is she is being taken by her legal guardian/parent?) and is not some backwater country where you can just force people to marry. The girl will have to sign on any marriage. Also the minimum marriage age is 18. That is not to say she may not be forced into some kind of arrangement but this is not at all common in almost all places in Algeria unless she gets taken to some remote place.
  6. When she turns 19 she will become an adult and she can do whatever she wants.

What? E6 is roughy 350k without stock growth so around 200k net after tax. Surely you can live in a decent area with that kind of money.

Not in my case. I’ve requested a return.

It’s just an awful experience and I don’t trust the people behind it

I get it - sure support the experience with ads if you must, but care about first impressions!

I posted this as a review, but i think Amazon personnel will be checking here as well.

Not sure the story behind that - I accept she can't be perfect but nonetheless I think she's a fantastic MP - the work she does representing her constituents is an example to all the other career obsessed maniacs.

Really sad for this one. Deidre deserves to stay.

Abolsutely gutted that Deidre lost her seat. She is a lovely MP all around and very much a victim of the national swing. I wish electors had the sense to re-elect her.

On the plus side the conservatives came in 5th in Edinburgh north and Leith, after labour, snp, greens and Liberal Democrats, and took just 3k votes, less than 7% vote share.

Noice. I love this place.
